Coolant leaking from block

What is the hole underneath the header for? The coolant is leaking out from there. When he pours water in the radiator, it will just pour out of the hole. What goes there or what went there?

Like he said, there is no hole. Maybe it's a freeze plug that's been rusted out or something. That's the only hole that could let coolant out like that and not mean your block is fucked. You can get new freeze plugs installed by a mechanic. I would recommend that you flush your system out really well also.

Yeah some pictures would really help a lot then we can tell you for sure, but as the guy above me said it sounds like it's a freeze plug. If it did pop out it would leak out cool. They're put in place in the event that water froze in your cooling system it would blow out the freeze plugs before actually cracking the block. They can be placed if it's the plug that came out by a mechanic.

You're all wrong. There's a drain plug in the block right behind the exhaust manifold, look it up in either the FSM or your owner's manual, you remove it to do a complete coolant flush.

Sounds like the one in question is loose or missing.

Well from what I am hearing, it sounds like a freeze plug. Its not right behind the header, its underneath it. Thanks, Do any of you know by chance how much one of these costs?

Give it till he takes the header off and looks more carefully to make sure. We must be carefull before we point and laugh cause Russ is usually right.

I was right! Yes!

Take a seal puller and use that to pull the plug out or you can use a screwdriver to knock it sideways and use some pliers to pull it out. Then to put the new one in use a socket the same size as the plug and a hammer and slowly tap it in.

We'll agree to disagree. There is a drian hole, it just wasn't the culprit in this case.

Guess you guys have never flushed your coolant either if you didn't know about the drain.
