Turbo upgrade...
Hello,
I am trying to decide to go with a sc-61 or gt35r with a p/b manifold. Or go with a hks gt3037 or even a 3040. I was looking into the hks line due to not upgrading to a t/3 manifold. Although if I go with the hks I will go with the full-race prostock in the future. Both setups will run roughly the same in price tag. I am looking for a very streetable car but with good top-end for freeway use. Iwould like good 1/4 times but most likely will see very little track time. Mainly street and freeway. I am strongly leaning towards the 3037. I greatly appreciate your opinions. As I am looking into purchasing either setup in 2 weeks. Thanks. |

From your selections you're looking for what, 450whp pumpgasish? On highway pulls you wont really have to worry about spool so much but you definitely want tq for that. Go top mount though and stay away from t2 flanged 3071's, Ive seen bad things. HKS isnt worth the price difference over regular Garret as well

So going with a peak boost mani. and maybe a gt3076r would leave me better off then? Now that ruling out the t25 footprint is out. Yes, on pump gas.

I was told the 3082 (aka 3040) is a much popular turbo with the Nissan crowd than it is with the Honda guys. The turbine is the same on all GT30R variations but the 3040 has a much larger 82mm compressor compared to the 76.2mm wheel of the 3076 (aka 3037). ATP told me the 3040 is a bit of a mismatch and is therefore much laggier than the 3037. Spool up is about 400~500rpm slower as well as boost/vacuum transition and shifting is laggier.
How do you Nissan guys like the 3040? Do you find the 3037 is a superior turbo? __________________ 2.0L Integra GSR-T |
