Anyone thought of this?

Ok I may take a beating on this one ,but I think it just might work. Have any of you guys looked under the hood of most new cars? About all you can find is oil cap, radiator cap, and dipstick. All this because of the crazy heat sheilds and motor covers. Now I started thinking more about this when I read the article in Sport Compact Car about the DIY turbos and the street sleepers. Anyway if we were to come up with some motor covers that would be bolted down and that may hide some mods, even hide the fact that you have an SR. No cop will ask you to unbolt parts off your car to get a better look at your motor.
Now if you keep the CARB paperwork on your BA exaust and you get pulled over, and he cannot see anything under the hood, he has no reason to write you up for a REF ticket.
What do you guys think?

Seen it done before, D2 in Pasadena had a civic in their showroom. It was a complete show car, and under the hood the had some nice creative covers on the engine.

Making it look natural and making sure it wouldn't melt or get too hot would possibly be a little tricky but I think it could be a good idea.

I've seen a turbo civic that had its IC piping passing through the OE plastic intake plumbing, its BOV in the OE airbox, and a heatshield from a miata covering the turbo and manifold. It looked completely stock until he took the airbox cover off. We should look a lot more into this.

<---... still waiting for someone to make a SR valve cover with a KA top welded to it.

Some cops actually have photos of what the engine bays are supposed to look like. That being the most obvious change (at a quick glance), it might help. Just a thought.

Dude, you have some serious issues. Every time there's a thread mentioning the police, you're ranting and raving about them. Time to toss the NWA CDs. The police are enforcing the laws. If you want to do something, start writing letters to your lawmakers to have the laws changed.

/offtopic

my thoughts from another thread:

Wouldn't make a ton of power, but certainly more than an NA KA.

I'm sure Nissan wouldn't be too happy with an aftermarket company making covers for their motors to hide illegal parts.

And no, no company in the right mind will make covers for our motors.

Jonnie its a good idea, couldn't hurt to try it.

Sounds like a good idea, alot of work, but a good idea. I havent run into to much trouble here(Texas). California laws suck!!! My brother ,who lives in Ca. drove an rx7 was always harassed!!!!
But a GOOD cooling cover for the turbo? That would sell.

Sounds like I may be on to somthing. You would no be able to hide a big top mount, and you couldn't be stupid about it, like zip screwing a garbage can lid to the valve cover, or having your big ass fmic blinging out there in front. It would have to look stock or semi stock, I think I have some work to do.

The rx8 has that renisis engine cover, maybe smoething along the lines of that that covers everything, battery, fuse box area, just so the entire top layer of the engine bay is covered in plastic, throw a nissan logo and maybe put 2.4 ka hybrid on there or something and it should work nicely.

If you want to be a real sleeper, just get a complete looking KA made of plastic and mount it in place of your current engine. The mount any other engine you want in a Mid Engine set-up, and make the engine cover look like a back seat full of misc. stuff. Now when the police pop your hood they see a clean, completely stock engine. I'm thinking mid-engine LS1 would be nice.

Do you guys not remember the electric powered 240sx?
http://www.jouleinjected.com/motors.html
When the officer checks the hood, he will find nothing, literally.
I got this info from this thread: http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.p...ectric+powered
My statement is false if there is something under the hood....
