I have these ugly accent stripes on my 1991 white fastback (not that electrical tape looking crap). I want to remove them, but I am worried the paint under will be faded. Does anyone know if it is normally faded? If it is, can it be fixed easily by a shop?
Oh, how would I remove the adhesive left behind?
Thanks,
Jeff

i really don't know what the fuck you are talking about, but i removed my pine strips

to remove adhesive on the car use maguire's step 1 cleaner,  it's worked wonders for me (ie my 240sx emblem, the ductape that's melted to my headlight)

pine strips r easy to remove, my cousin did it by leaving his car out in the sun, i did it w/ a heat gun. just get 1 end up, and than start taking it off, it'll peel right off, sometimes it'll break, just heat gun again.  i didn't run into any troubles w/ the adhesive left behind, there was none i just waxed it well after.  you can see it from the pics on my homepage, the close up shots were taken right after i bought the car, w/ pine strip, while the others are pics w/o pine strips

for the 240sx emblem removal, heat gun it, peel it off, mine had some crazy looking shit that looked like glue gun or somthing, i just keep buffing it w/ the meguire's step 1, it came down lil by lil.  you can get it @ any auto store, kragan, autozone etc.  it's 'bout 5-6 bucks  it will say STEP 1 on it

Auto shops have a little drill attachment that is kinda like a circular eraser that works wonders... my neighbor works at an autoshop and brought it home for me one day.

we took off an couple inches and it worked great.  The prob was that my car is a 91, and it wasn't the paint under the stripe that was faded, it was the rest of the car.  It looked like it was perfect factory black underneath.  It make the rest of my car (black) look faded, so we just left the rest of the striping alone :/

removing the stripes on the body is very easy, at least for me it was. u should be able to just peel it all off in one slow attempt. if u did it right, which is very easy to do for the body, there'll be no adhesive left whatsoever.

the only prob is removing it from the bumpers. MAN THAT WAS FRIKKIN HARD! u can peel it off, but the damn thing won't come off clean. to get rid of the left-over adhesive, and there'll be a lot, is to:

-buy that meguiar's cleaner and do what the other ppl did
-do it the cheap-ass way, which is what i did. (u save an ASTONISHING $4!!! )

grab a rag. spray some carb cleaner ON THE RAG (found that out the hard way ...ARGH! ). rub the adhesive with the carb cleaner ovur and ovur until it all comes out.   :

I have a white S13 FB and the paint was fine when the strips were removed......ya might want to use a hair dryer on it as you peel just to make it easier on yourself. Goo Gone works to get rid of that residue from the sticker.
