So I am happy today, checking forums, and I get a message on aim, its a link, saying check out this picture, so I click it, and it takes me to download something, I download it, then I try to open it, and nothing happens. Then my aim is acting up on me, and then my friend calls me, asking me why did I send him this link, it looks like a virus, so then I realize this is a fucking virus that messages all your buddies on aim with a link, and spreads like a motherfucker, guys be careful, and I'm sorry if you were one of the people it messaged, if you were on my buddy list.

yea always check the link by putting the cursor over the hyperlink... even if it says www.photobucket.com/llskjdlsjfsldfs/picture1.jpg the link might not actually take you there...

this happened to me twice... just run some antispyware program like Ad-Aware and you should be fine...

But yeah, my friend got it and it was pretty obvious since he sent the link in a strange sentence to my GAIM (and cell since it was saved in his buddy list), then signed off right after.

ehh you didnt have to reformat, they have programs out there, i think there's one called aimfix? that will fix that virus problem. If it wasnt for computer nerds, you wouldnt even be on AIM!

haha, a friend of mine had that virus, then I somehow got it, but it never effected my AIM. My computer had over 70 torjans,worms, etc, on it. One was worse, and it automatically took over Symantecs and would send out a mass mail to people in an address book, whenever i hooked my internet cable in. Since I own both PC and Mac, I downloaded the updated file from my Mac, placed it on my PC, and that got rid of mostly all of them, except 5. I had to go deep into my registry and delete their strings. That got rid of 2 of them. Last, I used Hijackthis, to finish the rest off.

I haven't had any virus problems with my Mac...

Back in the old days when I was using PC, I didnt run into major issues... but that was like years ago.
