my car has been flashing the KS code for months. I just added octane booster when it first came up and it went away. It comes back every now and then, but meh.
You can try soldering a resistor to the two wires that plug into the sensor, but then you won't have a KS. It'll take care of your CEL though. |

Also to check for the short to ground in the sensor signal wire which is shielded you do this:
With the same digital volt meter back prob the knock sensor pin with one prob and then with the other prob peel back the conduit where the knock sensor harness plugs into the KS sub-harness and expose the shielded wire and prob the shielded wire and if you get continuity you got a short to ground my friend, you should not get a reading at all at the shielded wire is suppost to be separated fron the signal wire....all this means is that somehow the shielded strans of wire broke threw the rubber shielding of the signal wire and the touched. |

It's up your but and around the corner!!! J/K get the FSM it is located between cylinders 2 and 3. You pretty much need to remove intake mani to get to it...

On an S13 I just removed the fuel lines where they are attached on the runners 2 and 3 to give me more of a straight shot at it and used a 18" extension with wobble and no problem other than putting it back on is a lil bit of a painbut can be done...
