are ball bearing turboes rebuildable?
I'm looking to purchase and rebuild a ball bearing, or dual ball bearing turbo for my sr.
someone mentioned that they arent able to be rebuilt for some reason. is this true? |

They can be rebuilt, but it won't be cheap. Its often more cost and time effective to just buy a new turbo. Turbocharger bearings are not the crap you pick up at Ace hardware - the precision and manufacturing effort that goes into turbo bearings is way beyond anything else found on a car, and the cost reflects that. Call up someone that rebuilds turbos and get an estimate. Some places will even upgrade oil-journal turbos to ball bearings if you have the money.
