I have a 1990 Nissan 240 sx se. It is an Automatic and I am not happy with it! I want to turn it in to a stick. I have a possibility to get a whole Nissan 1993 240sx this is a stick. I want to beef it up. I heard that the 1993 have a better engine than the 1990 is this true? What would I need to do to swap out both the trany and engine? Is it just too much work? How could I beef it up with not so much cost involved? New cam? New pistons? What? I really want to make it faster but just do not know where to start. How much should I expect to pay for mods other than just swapping the engine and trany? Where could I start looking at mods?

if you get the 93 240sx why not just fix it up instead of trying to swap everything from the 93 to the 90 maybe if you do get the 93 keep the 90 as a daily driver and start from the ground up on the 93 and fix it up nice

Like 240sxracer said, why not just fix up the '93?...that is, assuming the '93 is in good condition.  The main difference between the two is the engine.  '89-90 have the SOHC engine w/ 140hp and '91-'98 have the DOHC engine w/ 155hp.  I say sell the '90 to get some money to fix up the '93.  Then decide what you want to do with the car:  street car, track car, show car, street car/weekend racer, etc....naturally aspirated or turbo?
