tie rod setup

i have stock s14 tie rods, w/ kazama s14 ends on my s13. my question is... is that just as much angle as s13 aftermarket tie rods w/ends. or can i do more with my s14 kazama ends?
thanks

No that is not the same. Aftermarket ends come with spacers and more threads to give additional steering angle.

Like he said, you get additional angle from the spacers that go between the inner tie rod and the rack. Just order some spacers from splparts.com for $10 or whatever they sell for.

Unhappy

sooo sad if so!!! when i compared the s13, and s14 tie rods, the s13s threads were noticeably longer than the s14s by about a pencil eraser size. i know they gave me more angle, but i want extreme angle, how do i go abouts that? if anyone has a similar tie rod setup lmk, or if your pretty knowledgable about it, post. oh and if this has been discussed before flame me, then hand me the link! lol.
thanks

Did you read anything that we posted? Having more threads doens't give you more angle. Try learning to read before you try and figure out how to get more angle out of your tie rods.

The small spacing provided by the spl spacers or some inner tie rods is enough. Anymore then that and your going over center. Its not the ends that give steering angle, its the part that connect to the rack that does.

I think he meant inners. Some inners have built spacers so you dont need the kind that spl sells.

SPL has outers with spacers for bumpsteer adjustment only but not for steering angle.

Where did you see that? The only reason they probably say that is because of added bumpsteer, altered steering ratio, or the fact that you have less area threaded into the rack.

does adding those spacers give you a noticeable difference while drifting?

What's the rush to put spacers on?
I'd order the spacers and drive the car as is until I do enough suspension mods to warrant another alignment.

But, when he puts the spacers on, its gonna add toe in to whatever width the spacer is since hes spacing the tie rod away from the rack. Id just eyeball it for now.

Just do the alignment yourself. Measure the current length and then set it and eyeball it to see if you got it right. Eyeball measure it again until you get it right. Works for me since i run same wheels and tires front and back. I'm just waiting until I get a cage and some rear toe arms. After that it's corner weight and alignment time.

I think it already says above. You dont get more angle from tie rod ends. Only if you have a spacer between the inner tie rod and steering rack. Some aftermarket inner tie rods have a built in spacer on the part that screws into the rack. You dont have anymore angle so buy the ones from spl. Or if youre broke, get creative at home depot or something.

Why do you care if it's longer? It doesn't make a difference if it is because you have to align the car anyways which adjusts the total length of the tie rod.
