check engine light w/ gas

heres the deal, every time i go to put gas in this 89 240 after about 30min-1 hour the check engine light comes on for about 2 hours maybe more sometimes then goes off as im driving. can anybody shed some light on what might be wrong here. Thanks

i don't know if this would set off the check light but...do you top it off every time you fill up because if you do then your float might be going out. but other than that hook up scan tool to your obd and see if it's got any codes

SOHC cars don't have an OBD plug smart guy, nor do they have a CONSULT port.

Other than take your car to Auto Zone and let them pull the code(s) or pull the code(s) yourself......keep driving like usual....it is fairly common for the check engine light to play peek a boo every now and then.

yes...go to kragen autozone what ever....get a scanner...and check the code to see whats wrong...we can't plud into your car sooo its hard for us to say with out the code...my guess is small evap leak or someshit like that

yeah...he was just wanted to get his post count up and didn't really explain....i don't know for sure so you might wanna do a little searching...but you can pull a code out of your consult port...and odb I port does other shit too i assume...hope this helps dude...seriously just got down to where ever scan it and the come post the code so we can give you more detailed awnsers
