I think its dead here for a couple reasons......first off, alot of people in this forum are (from what I can tell) pretty young and pretty broke ($$&#036<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

Secondly, people who need questions to really difficult things just goto FA.  I've always thought FA was a bit snooty, but....at least they keep the noobie-terds in line there....usually dishing out brutal and blunt flames when stupid questions are asked.  

Lastly, all the noobies come to zilvia...and post stuff like "KA25DETT.....is it possible??" and "SR13 conversion...whats the deal?".  Sure, new people ask old questions...but.....to the posters who've been here for awhile, they get sick of seeing it.

Also, theres all kinds of CRAP "OT" postings lately....which only bump the good threads downward....and personally I hate having to goto the 2nd and 3rd pages of the forums to find interesting threads (which end up being days old).

Hmm... funny... I agree with everyone, or at least I can see all sides of the story anywayz...

I have been wondering where all the mods are tho... if we need some new ones I"d be happy to try and make the cut...

It just seems that people get busy in life.  Things always do change.  People get bored... mostly when people first show here, there's a lot of room to learn and grow, but after a certain point, and you start seeing the same posts with different people posting them, you start to feel like you've outgrown the goings on around here, and it shouldn't be that way...

Hopefully when we have a new board and a functional search feature, that will really help redirect newbies to previous posts before their time here, but until such time, I think it falls on the older members to alleviate the burden of newbie questions... I for one will be keeping a little text file with links I can copy and paste from, so that I can reply to newbies with links to posts containing those questions that've been answered 100 times or so <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

'>   I'd encourage other older members to do likewise to help make Zilvia a friendlier place again.

I have joined fairly recently and I have learned a lot.  Such as HippoSleek telling me about the Apex'i core for the Silvia, DSC schooling me about NASA track days, lots of Auto-x info, and tech help from ca18guy on a boost controller prob.  

I think if you are not growing and updating your 240sx it would get boring because the drive to learn more isn't there anymore.  I do an upgrade a month (money permiting) and always try to do more research on my ride.  When i run into questions about what I found or saw that's when I come to Zilvia for help.

PS I have noticed that alot of the flaming has been directed at n00bs because there have been more coming on that think they know the most about 240s and spout off untruths and then accuse those giving good advice of being wrong.  Not going to mention any names as to avoid a flaming war here <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':crazy:'>

IMHO, we have sorta maintained the community.  We definately need more mods (or more active ones) esp. w/ Lance AWOL for the summer and some others that are now less active.  The only ones I see at work are ca18guy and trans.  

And FWIW, I think FA is a great place for dyno queens but a bad place for drivers.  Too much uber-tech knowledge but you can't post about an autox, track day, etc.  I don't own the car to work on it  <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

why cause i see so many repeat posts about some stupid centrifugal supercharger that adds 150cfm of air and causes boost "does it work?" there have been 2 in the past 2 days i dont even reply cause there is nothing even remotely worthwhile to post. the people i knew on here are rarely ever on this place has become a rest haven for retards posting some pretty idiotic questions. i dont even post stuff up in tech any more unless its something someone really needs help with.

if i offend anyone i dont really care. i doubt any of the people that know me will get offended maybe some of the lil kids who want sr swaps but dont have a car yet will get offended. which is good.

That's one of the reasons that I haven't been posting here at all.  Another is because I still don't have my car back (and it's been fucking 3 weeks, yeah, I'm a bit pissed).  Yeah, believe me I've noticed the same stuff.  It's almost as if all of the old people have been replaced with new ones.

true, about summer anyways, i been working alot, but i just lost my job today so....

i have been improving my ride, so i dont think that has anything to do with it.

it def. is the newbie retardedness, but i have to say a smaller forum was a better forum.

and i agree that zilvia isnt or shouldnt be a major source of entertainment, but i havent found anything useful here in a while.

I havent been here all too many months, but I've definately enjoyed my time here, learning laughing etc. Recently its slowed down quite a bit, but maybe its because schools out and I have nothing better to do... It seems like all the old guys from the board have been gone lately... I just saw Aceinhole on for the first time in like a month and a half the other day. Seems like DSC has been less frequent here etc... I think the search function would be good to have, but who even knows if the newbs are smart enough to use it... although I've seen a few of them say its broken when they tried to use it.

Cliff notes:
Been here a few months
Zilvia has gotten slower paced
All old members found better things to do
most newbs are tards...

well maybe we can turn this around Bing, why don't we all throw out what we're *really* planning for our car, and if we're not planning on anything, what else are we doing with that money?

for instance-
I had 3k in stock, with another 1k waiting to purchase...saving up for nsport turbo kit...would have it by now...but realized that my girlfriend and I should get married. so a few months ago, I spent most of it on a ring, the rest on clutch (CF at least), and now my future stock money, along with any other extra spending money, will go to the wedding next april. She's also about to start making some money, and after that, we'll pay off both of our credit card stuff...so next year, I should be back into putting stuff on my car. (not much else NA besided internals).

So next year after the wedding...I'm planning wheels/tires, swaybars, helmet, then AutoX.

But I did just do a brake upgrade. not bigger or 300z, but xdrilled, ss lines, and pads. that's exciting! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

Hmmm exciting stuff.... well I get my car back after 22 days of not having it. Spent near 350 dollars on clutch and labor and towing. After that Im pretty broke so I can really only afford tint and I might borrow a little money to get a new wing, because mine is split in half... Im trying to get it to look semi decent for my senior pictures in about 2 weeks (I know Im a dork for takin pics with my car...). Im thinking about getting the "replica" type x wing, since 600 dollars is a little out of my borrowing range... As for other exciting stuff, nothing really new. it's slow. i'm not here as much as i used to be, but that's because it's summer and i (as well as most others) have better things to do. it seems like a lot of people here are still in school, and during the summer when i'm not in school i work during the day and get hammered at night. when i'm at college i go to class, come home, and dink around for a few hours till it's time to study. just be patient........when us college guys (read: the smart ones <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'> ) the good info will return............i hope.

The ppl here seem too allot of two things, bicht out noobs and Honda ppl. They seem  to take any weird movement a Honda drivers makes and take has a threat. Then they come back here and a post about it. Or when they see some new ask a Q. They get all smart ass about it. Help the guy if the noob get smart ass about your reply then you lay the smack down on him.

well i only use to post like twice a day if not less.. mainly read.. but i really dont like it here anymore...  mainly because when i post something about my car or tell someone how to do something someone with 100 or less post flames me.. like the kid who told me aero dynamics dont matter... when i study them... that really pissed me off..  

why should i get flamed when i know something by some homo?  and the guy with the mustang flame me when i said fords shitty and are bad for not having consistant times.. when i use to race with two of my friends weekly who owned mustangs and one can tell you the part number from end to end of the car and i work on many fords...  everytime i finally feel like posting something some kid wants to talk smack because he likes the car im bashing when i have reason to do so...  

why doesnt west make a area for newbies.. their own tech talk and chat and when they get to 200 post they can come on our area?  so they get all the newbie out of them.. most will leave anyway..

but anywho i might just stop coming here as well..  im busy at work its not even funny and im finishing my new rims/tires/s15front/bodykit/paintjob/nos/shaving and whatever else ive been doing to keep my 97 240sx in the shop for the past 6 months...

Seems like DSC has been less frequent here etc... I think the search function would be good to have, but who even knows if the newbs are smart enough to use it... although I've seen a few of them say its broken when they tried to use it. She's also about to start making some money, and after that, we'll pay off both of our credit card stuff...so next year, I should be back into putting stuff on my car. (not much else NA besided internals). So next year after the wedding...I'm planning wheels/tires, swaybars, helmet, then AutoX. But I did just do a brake upgrade. not bigger or 300z, but xdrilled, ss lines, and pads. that's exciting! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> also, I think PSI240sx's post about the viper kill is pretty exciting. so what are you doing bing? if you expect excitement...you gotta contribute too. Spent near 350 dollars on clutch and labor and towing. After that Im pretty broke so I can really only afford tint and I might borrow a little money to get a new wing, because mine is split in half... Im trying to get it to look semi decent for my senior pictures in about 2 weeks (I know Im a dork for takin pics with my car...). Im thinking about getting the "replica" type x wing, since 600 dollars is a little out of my borrowing range... As for other exciting stuff, nothing really new. I guess a job would help with some of this, but hey its me..
