If you decide to go with a conversion kit. Then you should request for H4 wiring with H3 bulbs. Unless you dont mind customizing an H3 kit by basically splicing the wires and attaching blades on each end and plugging them in to the H4 socket. Im not too sure about your high beams though. Hope that helps!

Retrofit!

That aside, H3 based bulbs, you'll have to splice the wiring like s2ionline said.

If you do go with the non projector headlight housing with a KIT, at LEAST go for the rebased D2S -> H4 bulb. The rebased version makes it so that the focal point is the same.

I just did H4 housings, d2s adapters, and just wired it up. The beam is just fine with me. No problems at all. I'm using HIDs from a S2K. Philips bulbs...doing this mod is nothing new so look around before asking a simple question.

This same thread is progressing on another board. I'm glad you actually came over here to search and ask around like I told you to on tnspeed.

Somebody point him to the thread about the light beam arrays, and how broken most of them are with conversions. I can't find the thread again, as I found it by accident a couple days ago while searching for fog light stuff.

Dont waste money on HID conversion for RHD-optic cars, you'll be seriously disappointed and will equip your car with some shitty headlamps.

We are working on a setup using DOT compliant optics. HID low beams, halogen high output high beams. In the works at the moment.

e-code housings are for lhd but are not dot. Not like it matters since they are popups...

Prices look like a couple of fingers and toes for the LED stuff. IMO, I wouldn't use. Not because they are bad, but because personally I hate getting behind somebody that has ridicously BRIGHT tail lights, and I wouldn't do that to someone else.

Agreed, they look cool unless you're being tailed by someone with them. Then comes the curse words!

Not to be a jerk, but what does the word reasonably priced mean?

For instance, if you have stock 96-98 180SX taillamps.. why do you *need* LED technology? You dont. Therefor, there is no such thing as reasonably priced. Either you can afford having such an item on your car, or you cant.

If you want LESS LEDs, taillights like that already exist in the market, and rightfully so. You pay lets say $300 dollars, you get 12 LEDs per lamp. Its the nature of the product.

As for headlamps, do you guys *need* S13 silvia front-ends? Since when. My s13 has been in my possession for over 10 years, never have I said to myself "I need to change this front end to one with RHD headlamps."

Obviously, many 240SX owners have an itch up their butt and a need to change things. So, they change their front end and use RHD headlamps. Well, thats fine.. but now you have a problem, the light emitted from RHD headlamps is designed for use overseas in Japan and UK. So, these lamps are pretty much useless here in the States.

So for those of you who have S13 front-ends, well.. you gotta pay to have someone do this type of work for you. If you cant afford that, then you take the risk of doing it yourself - nothing wrong with that. You'll have plenty of first-hand experience as to what makes this type of labor so intensive and fustrating, of course.. without the LED coolness, we're just talking about the basic work of changing your low beams out for ones that kick ass.

----

As for the rest who are talking about HID kits, this has already been discussed before time and time again.. here is a link to the thread that has been going on in "chat" for many weeks now:
http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=119134&page=5

HID kits DO NOT solve your problems, they only amplify them. If you couldnt see before, you wont be able to see with an HID kit.. it will only amplify the shittiness of your current lighting setup. Want better lights? Change your optics. This means full disassembly of your headlamp and upgrading the internals with better ones.

Can you please elaborate on how the light is useless here, but not in Japan & UK...I'm not following you. How does the light become "useless"? We do have the ability to aim them...Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but I just don't get what you're saying here...
