Hawk HPS+ Pads vs. Ferodo DS2500
I'm about to do a 300zx brake swap on 240 hatch and I wanted to know if anyone has tried both of these pads and which set they think is better

ferodo is some baller shit. but if you go that just for the front, your brake bias would be damn off

The EBC pads have a HP rating...
Green Stuff for Sport & Premium Street. Red Stuff for Highly Tuned Cars/Faster Street Driving. Nominal friction coefficient 0.5 with approx. 50% dust reduction compared to other pads. Yellow Stuff "R" is the Ultimate Race Brake Pad for Highly Tuned Cars on both Street and Track. Nominal friction coefficient 0.6 with zero rotor damage and similar dust to original pads. Like I said I am running the Red Suff right now but as the car builds and gets more HP I will will be looking for other pads that can handle the use. Yellow Stuff looks tempting and wasn't out when I got the Red. BTW I am running Skyline R32 GTR Calipers and Rotors (front) and full Z32 (rear). Brake Fulid - Motul RBF 600 Dot 4 Peace Drew

slightly off topic, but how is your brake setup on the street and track? I purchased the exact same setup for my s14, but with Hawk HPS pads (may replace that with the more aggressive HP+), and the 17/16" z32 mc/prop valve. Was there anything you needed to tune the brakes? Im a bit skepticle if the z32 mc would still work well given larger front brakes are used. Any feedback would be very much appreciated, thanks! ![]() |

I like my HPS a lot. I haven't gotten them to fade and it seems like they get better as they warm up. I haven't been to a track though. Only on the street. And in a big empty parking lot. lol

I've tested my brakes pretty extensively and they definately start to fade and lack the power to scrub off alot of speed w/o pushing the pedal down really far

I have heard alot of STi and Evo guys loving the EBC Brake Pads so I have a set of Red Stuff on the S14... very solid braking, lite squeek when stopping from a slow roll, other then that I love them... and they dont eat your rotors like Hawk pads.
I was running Endless Vita Novue Pads... they wear down fast and really dont increase braking as much as they claim... not worth the cost... may get M-spec after the EBC Red Stuff wears down! Peace Drew

What's the difference between red and green stuff? the green has a higher nominal friction coefficient...

I have EBC green stuff on the front of my Jetta and they brake extremely well, I can only imagine what it would be like if I had them at all four corners. Cost 80$ for the fronts. Bought them last summer and they are still pretty meaty. They do fade but only during extremely spirited driving, car has never been tracked but there are lots of windy backroads in PA.

ronmcdon - If you have Z32 rear and Skyline /Z32 front... I have the Nabco 17/16 MC and Z32 Booster... the booster is a bitch to install and you need to adjust the plunger to set the pedal pressure. Only thing I have noticed is under hard braking the engine gets deprived of vacuum and stumbles... not sure how to fix this yet... probably something simple... I'm not to worried about it because SR is going in soon. I have not tracked the car yet, but it feels like a Lotus braking.
Peace Drew
