s13 with blacktop SR?

I found a s13 with a sr20det blacktop in it which I'm considering buying. it has a burnt clutch and possibly needs a new transmission. the car bone stock with dents here and there. The motor looks like it was wired up by someone coming down off a two day crack binge. i haven't heard it run yet (faulty wiring) but the guy said he will get it running by the end of the week. he is also going to include a full engine gasket set, along with some other extras. how much do you think this car is worth?

well lets see the head gasket set is $300 bucks
lol
but man that hole car sounds a little risky. I would give him 1000 for the motor and maybe 500 for the chasis if it was straight... so no more than 2000 just my opinioun. It depends were u live 2

he wants 500 for everything which leads me to believe that something major is wrong. but hey, a blacktop in a strait s13, running or not, 500 should be worth the risk right? I mean, does anyone need parts? Btw, about how much does a tranny and new clutch cost?

he said i was running fine until he messed up the clutch. I guess my main question is do you think, if the motor is blown, i could make my money back parting it out?

More then likely you could sell a bare sr head or block for 500 bucks combined.

Id say take it. Even if it was a blown headgasket like someone said the guys throwing in a hg kit. If he did blow the motor just get it rebuilt and you still would of gotten a good deal.

if your handy with a wrench then go for it, but if your not......find someone who is and part that shit out. but if your buying this as a sole means of transportation and you cant do either of the above then walk away.

A good spare sr20 block that isn't spun will run u about $1000. $1200 if u want the black s13 sr20. Wait for him to get it "wired" than you can start it and see if it is knocking.

let me tell you something.... make sure the compression in good.

NEVER buy an sr with a blown headgasket. or u suspect of it. why?

because the block is aluminum. do you know what happens when the block overheats and melts the gasket? it melts alot more lol. i seen a few blocks trashed. but hey, if u want light weight its the way to go versus iron block.

sr is great, but if u overheat it ur fucked 70% of the time. if not a cometic gasket is 90 bux, head resurfaced about 200, your personal time putting it in - 400 at least.

the point is make sure u triple check the condition of an engine. especially in a moded car that probably was run hard

With f---ed up compression the car is worth a shit load more than $500. You can buy it and sell it for more than double your cost. Either way you win.....FTW!!!!!

scary.

anyone messing around with an sr isnt going to come across a wiring goof and say, "well, shit, i dont know how to fix that" and sell it for 500. it has to be something big. like theres a hole in the driver side floor and someone dumped a big mac into the cylinders.

be alot of things to think about. Check if he has the pink slip and if he is the riteful owner. If not, don't fuck with it since it is not worth paying $500 to go jail or having to worry about people finding out about it.

I don't think it’s stolen. He has the pink slip and he is willing to sign documents. Big Mac? Maybe, but that shit would probly burn better then gasoline. I think this guy just doesn't know what he has, or he's on drugs. Either way I’m going today to listen to it run and do a compression test.
