![]() Hey there guys i am a proud owner of a 91 S13 Hatchback LE with a Ka24de. And i recently went to a shop where they sold imported engines of all cars from Japan. So this guy told me i should either get an SRdet or an RB20det for it. Altough the RB was ALOT cheaper.. he told me that it made ALOT mroe Hp and Torque. if i remember correctly the SRs were going for $2,000 and the RB20det{s were going for $1,200. So im thinking.... the SRs are everywher eand parts would be more easyer to find since i really dot hear much of RBs... im thinkign if somethign broke down it would be a BIT.. to find the replacements part. as for the SR... i could get many parts that SRDEs have. (im guessing) so im guessing since im shuer theres guys out there alot alot more knowledgebla of what engine is better. What engine should i get. the SR or the RB .. and WHY? i mean.. am i right or wrong the parts for the RB would be alot more scarese and expensive. and is it true that the RB has more balls ? what would be the easyest inexpensive swap ? WHAT WOULD YOU GET ?

you'll need motor/tranny mounts for the rb20.. that might cost alot.. mickenny motorsports or something... 800 bucks isnt alot of initial cost for something thats likely going to be way easier.. there are forums all over the place about this.. you'll need a new driveshaft for the rb too.. soo figure another grand easy for mounts and the shaft.. thats why its cheaper
its heavier too.. the sr is a more reasonable choice.. lighter and proven.. wiring ect. can be sent out and done by shops for not too much.. keep doing more research and come up with whatever you want... rbs are more unique.. sr's are realtively proven |

Instead of going RB20, you should go RB25. There is more power potential in the RB25. Also, there is a night and day difference in torque and the smoothness of the power band. If you plan to go this route, you should get a front clip so you dont have to worry about sourcing a xmember. Syko performance makes great mounts for the RB25. If you decide to go this route and need a mount kit, pm Kouki_s14 his name is henry. He can hook you up with one. Also if you need motors, he can help you get a front clip also.

You should probably find some people in your local area with sr/rb swaps, make friends with them and get a ride in the car, see what you like the feel of. Expect to spend atleast $3000 either way. Ka-t (even with a mild engine build) would quite possibly be cheaper than both (depending on where you get your parts).
