sr20det no crank

hey yall, have a 95 240 with s13 sr swap, recently blew headgasket, my buddy had another motor to swap in briefly so i can still drive the car while building my motor, put motor in hooked everything up just like before, engine does not crank, have power and starter solenoid is clicking but motor not turning over and after multiple attempts found a ground wire inside car smoking, tested with voltmeter, found with key on has ground, when key in start position has 12 volts, rechecked over EVERYTHING multiple times, have all powers and grounds hooked up exactly like before, checked for any pinched wires found none, running out of options any suggestions will help. the only thing that has changed on my car is the longblock, no electrical changes, same starter also

P.s. this ground wire that is burned up now is for instrument cluster

the problem is bad or lack of grounds, my battery is relocated to trunk and negative cable runs to frame therefore had no major ground from engine to chassis, the only one i had was the wire that burned up, was a very small wire and could not hold the voltage, i forgot to hook up the homemade grounding strap i had put on, put it back on and all is good
