HID retrofit?

Thinking of doing a bi-xenon retro in my flip-ups, and was wondering if anyone has already done so? Or, is there a write-up that can help me get this done?

you will have to search on hidplanet.com's forums. no write-ups exist for the s13 but you can gather general knowledge on how to piece together your setup. read up on projector dimensions, wiring, etc. you will have to do a significant amount of fabrication.

one guy did a bi-xenon retro on his s13 but was unable to lower his lights.
another guy did a retro in an ae86 and was able to retain up/down motion.

search for "s13" and "7x6" over there.

Yes, go to hidplanet and do some research, The guy your talking about unwed did not use bi-xenon's just single xenon TSX projectors. Bi-xenons will most likely be quite a bit larger in size. I have a pair of TSX projectors I was going to try to retro and keep the flip-up function, but with taking measurements, its not easily do-able. You would have to cut the rear section of the headlight bracket out for sure and maybe even notch the core support.

Im sure if you searched you could find shorter projectors that may fit, but I doubt they will be bi-xenon's, its possible though.

Good luck if you plan on doing it, and make sure you post some pics.

I did some reading on hid planet, and it is hard to keep the flip up option, when retrofitting. For a temporary fix, i'm going to install a d2s kit, and use my casper shields. That is, until I can get my funding for the retro.

Acura TL projector is the way to go. I'm doing a custom retro fit on my s13 headlights and when I'm done I'll post up a write up.

ive heard good things about "blazer" fog lights. they are made to use a halogen bulb (H3 i think) but the cutoff is not really that bad when used in conjunction with an hid system. what is great about these are, they are waterproof, compact, and cheap. in the near future i might try to fit one in my pop-up H4 housing. i think with how shallow they are i should be able to flip them down.

these are pretty sweet also...

there are actually a few drop in HID projectors conversion kits for our S13 flip headlights

http://www.brightheadlights-hid.com/hid-upcoming.htm

im currently using Hella H4 conversion kit though but the cut off line is sharp. im definitely gonna try to put some HID in them.

you can check out the cut off line here

Well, I currently have the hella h4 conversion, and I was running HID's in there. They weren't retrofitted, but they looked nice. Until both HID's crapped out. I don't know how, but both sides just stopped working. My friend tested the voltage, and there was power going to the bulb. The bulbs aren't burnt out either. I don't understand how both sides could crap out. It wasn't no cheap HID kit either. It was a Phillps ballast, Phillips igniter, and Phillips bulbs. When my friend first put them in, they powered up fine. I'm thinking that since I mounted the ballasts right underneath my flip-ups, that when I got my car washed, water probably got to the place where the igniter plugs in, therefore causing a short. I can't think of any other reason, why both sides would not work. After checking out that link, I think i'd rather spend 500, than a thousand something for hid's. Although, it's pretty sweet that the kit is just drop in.

i did mercedes e-class bixenon projector into the s13, but it's not popup lights, shucks =b

I don't see why it can be done, just wire it up to the headlight, the only concern is that there's lack of space, i talked to one guy who just used a metal plate or sheet of cf or something and bolted the projector to that.
