s14 cruise control button mod

so I practically LIVE on my cruise control in my s14. It helps me keep in check so I don't have a pile of speeding tickets. I noticed an annoyance... I have to activate my cruise control every time I start my car??? does everyone elses shut off when you get out of the car??

What reason would you ever have to shut off cruise control? Theres a damn cancel button on the wheel. Has anyone modded it so they don't have to deal with that? I want my cruise on all the time. I have better use for the space wasted on the 2 buttons too.

Pull it out and cut the ignition lead, run it to constant power, then hide the switch down in the dash somewhere. Nissan is one of the only cars that do that, I know every honda or Toyota I get into there's a big green LED staring at me from the last time it was driven. Shit's annoying though to have on though if you're not using it.

i think about that every single time i use it too. r240na is probably right, though you might want to check an electrical diagram first. you could probably use the circuit for something else. it'd be nice to hook up the electrical fan that way so you could turn it on and it would automatically shut off when you turn off the car.

why? electrical fans are suppose to be able to turn on even if car is off. never heard cars in a parking lot? the fans run not just when car is on

12V constant would work like russ said

Even though it sounds stupid, the ON Switch on the dash is probably just a safety measure. Say someone driving your car did not realize they hit the steering wheel button, let off the gas, and had no idea they would still be traveling the same speed into the back of the car in front of them.

Its like a three inch reach, you dont have to go to the trunk to turn it on, whats the big deal. If you rewire it then you just have a useless button sittin there. haha

While I understand where you are coming from, someone would have to be half retarded to pull something like that off.
But then, you cant hit my buttons unless you meant to.

i understand that, it was just a half cooked example.

but it would be nice to have some switched fans (in addition to the stock thermostat). they rarely need to run, but if you're stuck in traffic or at a race, you could turn them on early or keep them on after a run. i would only do it because the switch and relay are already there.

exactly, that button could easily be utilized for other things.
My intentions are to utilize that space for my power mirror controls, relocate that off the center console, then cut my center console up to fiberlgass in a dual cup holder.

Thats just a side benefit of me getting pissed off when I hit "set" I wont swear when I slow down and have to push the damn button again. Its not a big deal that its there, but its just annoying. I usually dont make a trip where I dont use my cruise, so thats 1 less thing to do before I can just... cruise

Not exactly something everyone does, but since I lost my cruise after the Redtop in my S14, I wired my Turbo XS dual-stage boost controller to the cruise on button haha.

Cruise off = 7-8 psi, cruise on = 15 psi

Every car I have ever driven with cruise control in it shuts off with the ignition and has to be turned back on.
