![]() ok well am having a huge issue with my car heating up..i recently swapped my 91 ka for a 97.. it worked fine until it started to heat up.. hours later.. my uncle changed the thermostat.. and i thought he put it in wrong due to reading high temp. but with water on the radiator and little tank for radiator.. today i took it out to the bank and back.. still heated up.. but when i opened the hood.. the little tank was FULL!! up to the top.. when it was normally a little below max.. and read high temp. could this be a block problem? pushing water back and then heating up? lmk ! plz!!! ty

Well, could be an air pocket in your coolant system. Did you guys bleed it properly?
Worse case scenario is your head gasket. But look for any leaks, and try bleeding it again. The easiest way is to drive the front of the car up on blocks, or jack it up to have the motor at a backward angle. Make sure you turn the heat in your car all the way up. Make sure your overflow tank has some coolant in it. Now, open rad cap, start the car, wait until it heats up and the coolant starts to flow. At some point it will start going up, so put your rad cap on and let it run for another 5 minutes. Turn it off and let it cool down for 15 minutes. Open the rad cap, top off the fluid and repeat.

I ran without a thermo before and it just seemed to create alot of pressure and still overheated sometimes. Just keep bleeding it, test your thermostat before you put it in also.

maybe your waterpump is done. mine overheated when the car was off but drove fine. also whenever you do anything to your radiator water you must bleed the system or it will fuck with you.bleed the system first and see if anything changes if not check the thermostat he installed and change the water pump while you are at it.

can some one post a pic of how the thermostat should be?also can this be caused by the returning hose? meaning the water is not coming back to the radiator due to it been it blocked or something? so then the top hose cant feed more water so it returns it to the reservoir tank?
