you MAY need to provide both, just incase the cops ever want to pay you a visit for some reason..(not implying anything...)
just give the dmv a call before you make the trek over there. ANNIE - car isnt registered in CA?...where the hell do you have it registered (please say alaska, i'll lmao.)

![]() The address on my title and registration is a USPS post office PO box in Alaska, not military (but I am military, which is why I'm in Cali and this can be registered out of state ![]() |

Tried to use my military po and they wouldn't allow it. I had to use a friends permanent address instead.

My friend has been sporting Texas plates for 5 years now?
no trouble. It seems fine, If you get in trouble you most likely deserved it, they wont pull you just for a plate.

unfortinutly i think its better for car enthusiest since it helps resist police harrasment on vehicle modifications. Like I stated above, i feel more secure.. but im transfering plates becuase i want to keep my paperwork etc 100% legal =p
Maybe I could write to SEMA and they could give me some feedback i dunno, Im thinking they would understand.

In cutty places like Trinity Co., they don't have residence addresses. They only have PO boxes. Like clusters of mailboxes where all the people come from their plots and get the mail. And those plots are only accessable by dirt road. It's pretty sweet, you shoot stuff off your porch while wearing your underwear and no one cares. Or have bowling ball cannons. And a gang of dogs. AKA The State of Jefferson. REAL Norcal.
As for registering your car, I don't see why they would require a residence address when there are no addresses out there. Hell, they don't even have sheriffs there unless something happens. It might depend on where you're at. But then again, people do live in their cars/rvs. And they don't have a residence address FOR SURE.

Back to the topic, basically the state of Cali DMV pretty much frowns on P.O.box reg. They are not stupid, people have been trying to play that game for years. Unless you can physically prove you live in an area where the homes are p.o. boxed only they are not going to buy it. Out of state they will accept but this goes with the fact that per California vehicle code. If you reside somewhere inside the state and drive around with a out of state plate you have ten days to transfer that reg after moving to Cali. After that a officer of the law can cite you for not doing it. Military is an exception. Now with all that said its just like putting a SR in your car. You can run around and play Russian roulette waiting to see, when a cop gets behind you and decides he wants to see whats up. I know people running out of state plates because they are less likely to get stopped when running a SR and whatnot but its still not legal and a gamble.

doesn't the registration have to be where the vehicle is "garaged"?
