it will just turn over-and-over-and-over it will take about 2 minutes until the engines catches and fires up......when it does fire up if i touch the gas it will try to die......

So you actually mean it will turn and turn and turn, but won't turn OVER until about 2 minutes worth of cranking has been done!? That doesn't sound too good. Are you using a proper weight oil for the weather? are you getting fuel/spark?
When does it stop sputtering?

on a side note; did you install the engine yourself? or did you have a shop do it? Inquiring minds.... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

i put the engine in myself and ever since it has been running great but is just hard to get started in the morning(after sitting for 8 hours).....it will crank it for about 8 seconds then sit for a few seconds....then try again...after a few times of this is I will completely shut everything off....wait a few seconds then try to start it 3 times.....then all of a sudden it just fires up real quick then sits at about 1800rpms until the engine has warmed up a bit

Is it the starter? distributor? spark plugs? It cranks, but it doesn't fire up eh? I dunno, but that's definitely not a good sign when you're sitting there, cranking the thing. I would avoid doing that if possible, find another car to drive until you fix your problem.

Check these things: Wiring to IACV (black w/yellow stripe i believe) IACV itself Injectors for leaks/dripping Wiring to MAFS (ground) Coolant temp sensor Ummm...can't think of other stuff...tired...... It's not the oil. It's something fuel/air/spark related. IACV has a big function in cold start. If it's not operating or clogged, you won't be getting proper air at cold start. Eric

After doing some research try this:
Turn the ignition to the "on" position and leave for like 2min Then try to crank her up Edit: That will pressurize the fuel system. It may be fuel pressure issues for cold cranks

I think you should DEFINITELY check the following:
oil weight is too heavy to crank engine poor spark(fouled plugs?) poor fuel pressure(clogged injectors or fuel filter?) I did like the suggestion above about "pre-starting" the fuel pump to prime the system pressure. I will have to remember that for the future. Just curious, what part of the country are you in?

I run 10W 30 w/ no problem <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'> I can't imagine that being the problem and you use full synthetic

Well how cold is it there? I don't know where you live. If it is the IACV it should start right up with a little bit of open throttle. Does it? |

when it is above 50degrees the engine fires right up...but once it get colder than that i have to crank on it for a while until it fires.....i have the turbo XS h34 BOV...you just stack washers into it and it will close at idle

I used to have a car that would die when you floored it. Reason being was that one of the cylinders would always foul out the plug. Sounds to me like your air/fuel ratio is outta-whack. Do you smell gasoline shortly after trying to crank it for like 20-30 seconds? Have you changed your fuel filter lately?

i do smell gas after 20-30 seconds worth of cranking......but.....the engine ONLY is hard to start if it is real cold outside.......if it is any bit warm it will fire up real quick.......
