ok..so i was driving back home from Castro [halloween party in SF,CA] she had to go home early..and so we left and we were in a hurry..so for those 50+ miles ive been going at about 4000rpm [oh yea its about 130am..in the middle and it was totally dead]..nobody around..so we were talking and i told her that i usually never drive past 3500rpm and that my car has a limiter of about 5000rpm in 5th gear [which is about 120mph?]..and yea i told ehr that the car would shake all crazy and fuel would be cut off..and yea she said ok..so back to the road..we were in a hurry cuz if she didnt get home..her parents would get mad..so i gun'd it..and ran up to 4900rpm..and then it hit 5000rpm..nothing happened..and my gf pointed and said "look ur at 5000rpm!"..and i said yea..and i thought..huh wats happening?..the cars not shaking..and i kept going kept gaining speed and went up to 5500rpm!!

CLIFF NOTES: great not to have limiter..not that id be going that fast, but the thought of not being limited is great..saves me money when i wanna take it off

hmm.. interesting.. My car with the speed limiter cut, still has a rev-limiter right around 5500 rpm in 5th gear. and 6400 in 4th..

only way you could be without the rev-limiter is with an aftermarket ecu?

Your car shakes when the gas get cut off? mine just slows down. what year is your car? maybe the limiter was disconnected by the last owner. my car hits the limiter at around 4300rpm.

I mean my car hit the speed limiter at around 4300-4500rpm in 5th year.
If somebody's car shake at 100+mph there must be something wrong with that car. It sounds dangerous.

Hmm, I've hit my speed fuel cut off before driving to palm springs. It was, I think exactly 118. It didn't shake my car though. I drive a 97 SE in perfect condition. No shaking what so ever. The only thing that happened was that I was flooring it (not sure RPM) when I hit 118 and the car felt like it does when you're in 2nd gear around 3000rpm and you take your foot off the gas. Like it would feel like it jerked forward a little or something. Nothing scary though.

The fuel cut is earlier, and is controled by speed. somewhere around 4500rpm I think.. the REV-limiter is ~5500 rpm. this is where the car will shake because your basicly bouncing off the rev-limiter, and you feel it through the whole car.

the fuel cut will just make the car loose power for a second untill the car slow just a bit.. I was hitting the fuel cut around ~115 (s13 speedo only goes to 110) after I cut the speed sensor wire on the ecu, I gained about 7-10mph.. and the car would shake instead of bog as it hit the rev-limiter.

(you get a lot of time to play with these things when your running around a super speedway.)
