I need to get the KA out of my engine bay to make room for the SR. I have everything save the throttle lines, and the wiring harness unplugged and out of the way. The tranny is giving me a slight headache. Whats the best way to pull it? Those top bolts are a pain to get at. Best way I can figure right now is take it off the crossmember, lift it with a jack to push the back of the engines forwards and get at the bolts. Any other suggestion?

When I pulled mine, I pulled it with the tranny still attached to the engine as one unit.
If you remove everything in front of the engine, there should be enough room.

I haven't pulled the KA yet but when I pulled my Z32 engine I got to the top bolts by jacking up the crank pully on the engine. It tilted it back far enough to get the bolts. You need 3' worth of extension to do it. You can pull it with the tranny still attached but to me it seems harder. I haven't tried it but it seems harder.

Here is the easiest way to remove a motor from a 240sx.

Put car on 4 stands (not the cheap-o foot high stands...get the nice big ones that raise the car about 2 feet or so).  Disconnect all hoses, wiring, exhaust pipe, radiator, intake pipe.  Disconnect the steering tie rods at the knuckle and the lower ball joint on the control arm.  Remove TC rods.  Remove Shifer inside the car.

Connect engine lift to the top of the motor.  Remove 4 bolts on the lower crossmember and 4 bolts on the tranny crossmember.  Lower engine onto a creeper or similar rolling device.  connect lift to the front of the body to allow the engine to slide out from under.

I'm sure I am missing a few details but you get the picture.

Installation is reversed order.  I can remove my drive train in about 2-3 hours by myself and about 2 hours with a helper.  It can be installed in about 4 hours by one person.

...bottom line, to save time and to get the job done. With the car in the air, use a 3', 1/2" extension and use that to reach the bolts on the top of the 'mission bell housing. I recently pulled mine and prior to that, working on clutches and 'missions, that's the easiest way to get'em out and off.
You may also need to make use of a universal bit too but that is all you'll need. 1) 1/2" rachet, 2) 3', 1/2" extension, 3) -maybe- 1, 1/2" universal bit...
