so someone decides to break into my car.... they thankfully didn't feel like smashing the window open, so instead they try to break the door handle off. luckily, in their weak attempt to steal my car or the stuff in it, the lock rod from the handle fell off and into the door where they apparently couldn't get to it, so they left my car with a f**ked up handle and a lot of mashed sheet metal (my door). the stupid f**ks tried to do it while my car was parked in a well lit area which was supposedly patrolled by hotel security (I was at a college rollerhockey tournament in New Jersey), near the door where i'm sure a lot of people walked by even at late hours of the night.

So, if they f*ck with my car while it's supposed to be relatively safe, what the hell am i supposed to do when my car is somewhere where security is even worse??
Basically, I'm looking into a good alarm system (I like the idea of a 2-way paging alarm, even though everyone says they're cheap and inaffective), but this topic is open to any other experiences at failed security or whatever.

Lord knows I would have been extremely pissed if someone had gotten away with all my hockey equipment.....

240s kinda of suck for security, it seems someone broke into my old s14 with ease. They just pried the door open and unlocked it and stole my nice Kenwood top of the line MP3 player and tried to steal the car but thank god it had problems starting or they might of got it.

I hear aladdin alarms in going to come out with a new version of their alarm but im not to sure what they are going to add or how long it will be before they release it, but id expect it to be some time.

That would suck to get your hockey equip stolen. I make sure and take mine out wherever I go just to be safe. Dont ever want to miss a game

I hate those morons. In the neighborhood across the street from where I live 10 or so cars got broken into in one night over the summer. Actually, no cars got broken into because the genius couldn't get into any of the cars he was trying to jack. Two of my friends cars got the locks ripped out of the doors and trunks...but that was the only thing that was done, no stereos were stolen at all, just a bunch of cars with missing locks...and they caught the kid because he got drunk and passed out in someone's yard with a gun in his hand.

yea dude... the amount of equipment in my car is probably equivolent to the price of my car (2 sets: my friend's as well as mine... just in sticks alone it's like $400-$500)

Sorry to hear about the break in... My old S13 one time I locked the keys inside... But it was pretty easy to get it open with a coat hanger if the window is cracked or isn't cracked. The damned s13 inside locks can be had so easily and get all your stuff swiped. I dunno if S14 locks are any better. But alarm wise mine came with one... and it has a hoodlock which is kinda cool I suppose. It's made by "US Auto Security" but definately we need ways to keep other people out of our cars

If people want in, they get in. It's really easy. If your car is in a dark alley, and the hope diamond is laying on the passenger seat, I'm sure I can think of some way to get it, no matter what security system you have.

But on a brighter note:
I would highly suggest a 2-way paging alarm. Cuz what do you do when someone's car alarm is going off? Most siren alarms rely on good samaritans. Do you run over to help the alarm? Probably not. If you had a paging system, at least 1 person will care when that alarm goes. Also, I would highly suggest internal motion sensors. Main reason: Unlocking via frameless windows. At least the sensors would hopefully catch a coathanger moving inside.

Sorry about the idiots. Anyone with half a brain can break into just about any car in a couple mins without that much damage. So, at least they were dumb.

I'm in the - "bottom line, there is nothing you can do camp." If someone wants it, they will get it... especially in New Jersey! Just be thankful they didn't come in through that $650 piece of glass!

There are a lot of things you can do to keep someone from getting the whole car, but breaking in is just too easy. Another thing - having owned a pager alarm, I can tell you that you will get to the point where you don't even check when the pager goes off (granted this was a) when falses were more common and b) not in New Jersey w/ my car filled w/ $$$$ gear). The best/only deterrent to keep people from breaking in is to not keep anything in sight in the car and don't move everything to the trunk when you stop.

Hey guys HERES A GOOD IDEA!!!!

What I do is when Im in a bad area, or am leaving my car somewhere unsafe.......What I do is, go into the engine bay and simply take out the ingnition Fue!

Then theres no way that they can start your car!

It takes 2 seconds to take out and then put back in!

ITs great!

Hope that helped!
Take it easy!

yea any car that doesnt have the top frame of the window like S13s , and have the S13 style of doorlocks are easily broken into , my friends del sol , and integra are the same way, a wire hanger will do the trick , for others its a simple slim jim and will do it, the only way would be to shave your door handles and DONT have a underbody switch for the door. but then agian if your battery dies ur fooked..

if u're talking about the hatch glass i about shit my pants getting estimates after it got shattered at a baseball game (by a baseball )... anywhere from $800-1100 were my estimates, thanks god for insurance. Its kinda funny though because i've found several hatches lately with the glass intact for around $50-100, go figure

well, if i could, i'd want a pager alarm that would only page me if someone got inside.... maybe find one that can be set to an interior motion sensor or proximity sensor or something. the outside of the car there's pretty much not a lot anyone can do to protect, but at least the peice of mind that the stuff inside has an eye on it would help.

Locks are for honest people.

If somebody wants it enough to steal it, they'll likely get it. Your best bet is to make your car less of a target, by taking valuables out, or making it look like there's nothing of value in it.

s14 is very easy to steal. If you have ever taken off the door panel, its a simple pull and its unlocked.
