grease seal rear hub for axles
hey guys, how necessary is this part? the remanufactured driveshafts didn't come with them. goes before the spindle, is not the spindle washer nut.
looking at courtesy parts, it says they're grease seals for the rear hub. of course the bearings should all be self-contained anyways. http://www.courtesyparts.com/betasit...1508_1512.html part 43232 grease seal rear hub here's a picture i found on the internet: ![]() they pop on and off pretty easily with a screwdriver and a hammer

it is a necessary part because it holds the axle in place to prevent it from moving up and down while driving, which is a bearing or something to hold the axle.

Um, no. It's a seal. It keeps debris out of the back of the bearing, nothing else.
Z32 and J30 uprights have the seal pressed into the back of the upright, not on the axle, same design but not in the same place. If you're still using S13/S14 rear uprights you should buy the seals and install them, they will do a lot to prevent bearing failure from dirt/grit contamination. But they have absolutely nothing to do with 'holding the axle in place'.

I'm bumping this thread because as I was swapping out my z32 uprights for the stockers I noticed my s14 never came with these seals and they are not shown in my FSM. It's basically that exact picture without that seal pictured.
I checked my axles and there are no such seals installed. Are these 43232 seals something that was optional? |

All OE axles are fitted with them, I've never seen one without the seal, are your axles OE to the car?
As I mentioned above, J30/Q45/Z32 axles would not have the seal present since it's in the upright instead.

Yes my axles are the original ones that came on the car. I am positive of this.
It's just unusual...these seals are not even in my FSM... Maybe I removed them from the axles when I put the z32 uprights on and just forgot? And damn $20 a piece! Edit: ![]() Is this metal seal the one you are talking about? $20 for that ish? |
