Toda cams? any users?

they're about in the same price range as other jap cams like hks, greddy, and tomei, but they seem to have some very diffrent specs. what is up with a 248dur. 11mm lift intake/exhaust? just seems much smaller when most 264 or 272 cams are coming with 11mm of lift. also i thought i read somewhere the Toda builds some of nissans race engines for them and they base their cams of that experiance, any truth? or is anyone making decent power on a pair of these?

what do you think about that 248 dur 11mm lift cam? would that be more for a low end auto-x set up? i know i want todas but which ones? 248/256? 256/256? 264/264? i once had a set if BC 264/264 cams but i sold them to a buddy before i ever installed them cause of some bad things i had heard about them. took a 20$ hit on the deal but i'm wondering now if 264/264 where a little to big for what i wanted. i just hate lag and sluggish responce and i'm not really looking for super topend just a decent pull.

i'm running a tomei poncam with gt2530 and really love it but recently picked up Toda 264/264 for my car but won't put them on til i'm ready to rebuild my motor.I would say this is the most popular size for mild street performance but if you worry about the lag issue you can go with 256/264 which can help you spool a little early and will hold you at the top end.

248 is stock cam duration. the lift is like 10.125mm stock so you're just getting more lift which i believe is more low end torque which is fine for the street. correct me if i'm wrong. i'm using hks step 1 256/256 with 10.5mm lift. runs fine.

I had 264 toda's. Worked ok, however blew my motor and sold the cams. Power kept climbing all the way to 8000rpm.

Now i am running BC 264's.

Nooo, my own stupidity blew my motor. They toda's were just fine.

My set-ups are way to different to compare, the toda's where on a GT2871R .86 bottom mount with a stock motor and a greddy intake. The BC's are on a 9-1 comp built motor, GT3076R .63 top mount and a stock intake.

On the dyno they seemed to have more top end pull compared to simmilar HKS, JWT dyno's but lacked the midrange a little. But I can't say for certain. They did work really well on that motor.

these will be for a 9-1 comp motor too. with a P&P head, new BC valves and springs with tomei solids and the ever popular 2871R .64. i too will be using the stock manifold instead of the greddy at first to see how i like it or if it kills the topend like some say. what was your reason for switching back to it from the greddy? i've got it down to the 256/264 or 264/264. how bad was the lag with the 264/264 and the .86 housing?

Well the mani was a Freddy. I switched back to stock cuz i wanted a little more low end power. And i sold it during winter up here.

Lag with that set up was horrible, 4300 RPM was 1.0bar. I was running an enthalpy tune so that probably had something to do with it too. There was also a 40mm HKS external gate welded to the stock manifold. Basically i found the GT2871R to be a POS turbo especially with the T2 flange.

Personally i would never stagger cam's. Most of the dyno's i have seen the stagger moves the ultimate spool down a little, but the boost seems to come on alot softer, so by full boost they are about equal again. Depends on what your looking for tho. Freshalloy has tons of 2871 dyno's you should look at.
