Hey. . got a question that's been bugging me for a long time now. . it's not just pertaining to 240sx, but actually to all nissans in the US and probably Canada as well. .

Why do our foglights only come on with the low beam headlamps? Why is it that in every other country, Nissan foglights can be turned on with just the parking lights, like all other cars?

Anyone know exactly how to rewire them? I can find out, but has anyone done it? =)

i never did it before...but i assume you can wire it the same way as any other aftermarket fog lights...just find out how to disconnect the original wiring to the fog lights and rewire it using an on/off switch...shouldn't be too hard...

u dont need to do that u can use the stock switch just have to take one of the wires off the relay and wire it directly to the battery.... but the only problem is that u have to deal with a dead battery if u forget to turn off the fogs

I believe that the reason for this is due to the purpose of the lights. Fog lights are low and aimed low to get *under* the fog. High beams are aimed so high that the beam will bounce off the fog and shine back in your eyes. So basically, it is a functional design with a built in idiot deterrant. Of course I am also one of those people who only runs fog lights when it is foggy or raining...

Well I wouldn't wire the switch power to my battery, I'd wire it to a parking light so they come on with parking lights, low beams and stay on for high beams, but off when all lights are off. Just like fog lights on Nissans everywhere else do (unless they shut off with high beam, but that's a minor detail)...

How 'bout you 200sx drivers out there? Can you shed some light on this?

I'd love to fit the rear foglights to my car, and get the dash switch and all. . that'd ROCK. . but. . no way to put a USDM license plate (so it'll look good) in that space hehe. . damnit. .

I've actually never seen foglights that WORK in the fog lol. . #### I've had to shut them off in the past to prevent the light from reflecting back in my face.. But. . I do love the projector lights on my S14. . those things cut through fog like butter. . and never blind oncoming traffic (That's what my high beams are for lol)

The fog lights on my 96 work better than in any other car I've driven. They're not the bright white, so they don't reflect off the fog horribly, you can see the yellow reflection on the road (which I think looks kick-ass). My bf has a 2000 WS6 and his foglights don't even work as well as mine.

I thought my fogs were strictly for looks. . but I just replaced them with fresh ones.. they ones I got on my car were both cracked, one had a hole in it (rain never blew the bulb out hehe) and they were white from being sandblasted with road debris. . now they actually fill the road with light!! Pirty cool hehe. . considering trying piaa gold ion bulbs to give it the 95-96 color =)

I prefer 95-96 fogs. . I wonder how the 200sx / Silvia S14s look. . they're the same, only clear lense. .
