Boost leak?

Help I'm stuck at school and can't get home.

I tried to test a bov before I purchased it for my sr. However, we did not have a t fitting and an extra vacuum line in order to route it to the bov. So we put everything back together, but my car would sputter out and die.

Any suggestions on what the problem may be? What is the proper line to connect the vaccum line to? When it is attached to the line I thought it came from, that is when the car sputters and dies. This line routes around the engine bay and underneath the firewall towards the rear of the car. Meanwhile, when it is running for the short while it does, there is a strange humming noise coming from the rear of the car.

While I was messing with the lines, I noticed that there is also a torn line from the stock recirculating valve, where should it be connected to?

Thanks in advance,
Jason

Its a little late and maybe i am just getting confused by your wording bc i am tired but i will offer a little insight and hopefully it will clear a little bit up for you:

Do not use the vaccum line under the throttle body (it goes to the little black charcol canister for emissions, so if you dont have that canister....) Block it off.

Only use the top two.

I dont like T'ing off anything on the line that goes to the FPR. That should get its own dedicated line as it has a very important job to perform. So use the top right one for that.

Top left one is the one you should T' off for you bov and your vaccum line.

You should have another vaccum line that goes straight from your wastegate actuator on your turbo to your hot pipe. If you have a boost controller it splits that line.

If you dont have a vaccum line going to the BOV your car will not hold idle and will chatter like crazy.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Aubrey, that helped quite a bit. I was wondering what the vacuum line on the top left leads to as well.

In order to find vacuum leaks, is it basically trial and error? Or is there a particular method?

Sorry about the unclear explanation previously.

Thanks,
Jason

Does anyone know what the hard line near the firewall is? What it connects to on both ends? There's a little red arrow on the left side of the pic near the firewall. It's the right most line when looking at the front of the car.

Thanks,
Jason

Do you know where the other end is supposed to go?

Thanks,
Jason

It goes from the little black canister by the drivers side headlight back around the firewall, under the car, and back to the gas tank.

Here is an item i highly recommend putting together for finding intake leaks. Its less than $10 to put together and will be money very well spent (can save hours of headaches).

Would that canister be the carbon canister? If so, If I don't have a carbon canister I can just cap it off, correct?

I'll have to make that leak tester when i get home.

Thanks,
Jason
