![]() So I have an 89 coupe. It's a piece. SOHC with 135k, rusted spare tire well, rusted rad support, and rust spots on the roof. The motor needs spark plugs, oil, and an intake for starters. The old spark plugs are frozen in there and I've damn near stripped my spark plug wrench trying to get them out(got one of four). To make matters worse the hood popper in the cabin(Whatever the hell you call it) now doesn't open the hood, the line is still there but whatever it's tugging on wont budge or isn't attached anymore.
Also the Digital speedometer didn't work when the car did run. When I opened up the dash to see what the problem was I found that a previous owner somehow managed to undo every wiring harness and cut half the wires while only affecting the speedometer. So what the hell do I do? I'm on a seriously tight budget and I got ultra screwed by the people who sold me this car.

Suck it up and fix it. Sounds like you are just bitching, and want someone to come to your house to fix your car.
Many people start off where you are, or even worse. Can't expect these 20 y/o to not have any problems. At least you know what the problems are so maybe you should start from there? Even though you said you got screwed by the buyers, its partially your fault for not closely examining the car before you bought it. If you knew the problems existed, you could have 1.) Rejected the offer 2.) Asked to lower the price or 3.) Not complain about it later on like you are doing now.

Yeah I know I should have looked for a better car. Half the stuff that was wrong with it I didn't know about until I got it. Simply because I didn't bring a set of tools to start ripping into this car on the lot. Ya know? Anyways once it stops raining(No indoor garage at my place) I'll hit the sparks with some PB blaster and try and crack them with a breaker bar. Then I'm spraying some rust stopper on the spots until I can properly fix them with a sawzall and a welder. Then maybe I'll head to a junkyard to find a cluster wiring harness to go with the extra analog cluster I picked up. Also I'd rather stab myself in the foot with a steak knife then listen to the jonas brothers for 10 seconds.

Take that fucker to the junkyard. It's not worth it. If it's got that much rust, its an uphill battle that you won't be able to win. Start over with a clean car.

sell this car that you have, get what ever you can for it.
look long and hard, the good ones are hard to come by. cough up the money, buy a clean shell with as little rust as possible, and then proceed to drop in a ka or an sr. |

Well it stopped raining so today I took a crack at the sparks. Got them loose with a breaker bar finally and put the new ones in. With a liberal application of anti-sieze. Anyways I'll get it running then maybe put it up for sale or something. Either way it's not even my main project so I kind of don't want to dump money into it.

Rust is easy to fix.
Sheet Metal Grinder Cut off wheels Grinding wheels Cardboard or poster board Patience Mig Welder Dont over whelm yourself. Take your time, dont give up. Remember that steel warps with heat so space out welds, giving time for cooling so you get the least distortion. Sheet metal is fun and easy.
