My car is making a whining noise when I'm accelerating in third gear. The more I push down on the gas pedal, the louder it whines. It only makes noise in third gear, and only makes noise when I'm pressing gas pedal to accelerate. What is it?

i believe it could be a pully going bad, in which the whining could sound like a small jet taking off, just a suggestion though, or even power steering fluid is low could sound the same way
