Short Ram Intake vs Cold Air Intake

So im looking for a new intake for my 92 fastback. Im just a lil confuzzled with what is needed for a full cold air intake. So you need an extension along with the short ram to make it a cold air? I just dont want to get and buy too many/ not enough parts.

^^^ define gay? NA is more practical;

OP a short ram is the only thing you need, a CAI is too unefficient. The super long elephant trunk of a intake already is long enough, however an AEM pipe alone gained about 6hp or so over a stock pipe.

My gosh.

WHY do you have to be from Norcal?!

Just buy an AEM carb legal intake.

This thread is so full of win its not even funny!

Just buy one, since obviously you lack the talent or knowledge to make one... and also don't listen to anything these idiots said.

Simple solution to the CAI in the rain- TAKE OFF THE EXTENSION COME FALL!!! PUT BACK ON IN SPRING!!! It takes all of 20 minutes to do. They're a two piece design so there is no cutting involved. Make a small thing such a big deal.

You have to practically drive through a lake to suck up that much water, seriously why is everyone so worried about the "short ram" versus a "regular" cold air intake. This whole thread is full of fail...

If you live where I do, the roads aren't exactly smooth. I used to have to take the CAE off in the winter since this one stretch of road by my house would flood a little. pretty fun to drive through fast, water would spray everywhere!

Or just stick to an OEM tube; Plus most ebay pipes are cocked to the side.

Fab up an intake heat shield for your engine bay and run a short ram.
