Custom Turbo Buildup
For you custom guys out there, how did you do it? What came first? (besides turbo charger itself obviously)
Would it work if I just bought the turbo charger and a turbo manifold? Then add all the extra's later? Do most people do that anyway? I think it would be alot smarter to be a kit, but this way might be cheaper. Anyone out there running kits for under $2500?? Thanks, Moose

Go to my website (in signature). Look at the current specs. Scroll down to Turbo. That is what you'll need.
The stuff in there (minus FMIC), along with the gauges and turbo timer and piping cost me like $2200. And it's good to run 4.35psi on. For another $200, you could have an intercooler and 370cc injectors with hacked maf, to run about 7psi. -Jeff

You know the thing is, that in order to get any power from my engine I have to turbo it. What do you get out of 4.35 psi, what like 40 hp? That's it. It's pretty sad really. After paying that much for all that, and that's all you get. It will be double where I live. It will probably be $3600 for me because I live in Canada. I don't want to make sick hp, but I'd like a fast car. Hmmm, I guess you do what you do and pay for it later, huh. Yep that's how it works. It's alot of work too man, I've really been researching over the last 2 weeks and I've found that it takes a couple of days to install, and you have to watch it constantly. I dunno, I might go down the turbo road, but really not right now. It seems like a waste of money..... but I know it isn't, it really isn't.

No. I think that something got lost here.
Under the "Turbo" section, there is: Tial wastegate - $200 Turbo - $800 Revhard Manifold - $495 HKS SSQV bov - $200 Elsewhere: HKS Type 1 Timer - $110 Gauges (2) w/ pillar pod - $130 Piping - $60 Sr20det downpipe (not necessary) - $180 Total: $2200. That's all you really need. Then, with an intercooler and 370cc injectors, another $250 or so, you can run 7psi. Total cost: 2450 plus little crap. My mod list on the site (all of it) has come to a lot of money, and I will be putting down 350+rwhp after I install my engine (next week) and dyno it after the break-in. -Jeff

Has anyone tried the HKS turbos that you always see tuner companies use in their sponsored car? All the gt2530... gt35pro, etc.?
