I have Flex-A-Lite (#220) dual 12" fans on my car. They fit the stock radiator really nice, and they fit my Koyo even better. Like they were meant to be.
Install is easy...just mount them to the radiator with the supplied hardware, and then wire it up. I have mine wired direct to the battery, so they can keep running after the car is turned off if they need to. Some people run them through a relay that is connected to ignition wiring...I had it that way at first. I like this better. If they need to stay on, they do. Oh, and make sure to use GOOD WIRE...they need a lot of current (like 20 amps). Oh, and get the thermostat to control the fans! This is a link to my photo album...the pics of the fans aren't so great. Sorry. Eric

Permacool 14" single (3000cfm). not as nice looking, not as nicely fitting, doesn't come with a thermo sensor ($16 bux from summit), but this one is more than twice as cheap and provides 500 more cfm. Civickilla uses/used it with an sr @ 17psi w/ no heating probs i think.
wired to the ignition w/ thermo sensor. Will have pics a bit later. |

I was considering electric fans as well, since i do not have a clutch fan shroud for the SR. But after talking to Koguchi, he said that the stock clutchfan with the shroud will work more efficiently and not overheat. SO that's what I am sticking with. Anyone here with SR still have their shroud i can buy?

![]() Dual fan setup off a junkyard chrysler concorde. Work nice, if you don't mind your engine bay looking a little ghetto. Great if you still have a stock flywheel and pulleys. Wow look at all that oil lol ![]() |

1. They only come on when needed (hot) so they don't sap power all day long. 2. They don't sound retarded like a big truck fan. 3. They free up TONS of room in front of your engine. Add to that the fact that it's hard to get an intact fan shroud, and it's not such a bad idea. I love my fans, and I wouldn't get rid of them simply because Koguchi says that the mechanical fan "works well". Eric Eric

but koguchi is a drifter. he was talking to JDMRice and checking out his car (and drove it a bit), who drifts (richard does i mean). engine runs HOT. hence, the reason koguchi said to leave the clutch fan in. dorifto drifts as well on his SR. ack we need to be specific. sorry for confusion! |

Wow, that's cool. Richard better not get rid of those magic Koguchi-sweat seats, yo!
![]() But yeah, I agree with you (how can I not?). The clutch fan might be more affective. I'm just saying why I chose to go with dual electrics. And for 95% of the other folks out there, a nice electric setup will work just fine. I don't know very many people who run their cars as hard as Japan's top drifters. Eric

I would think the main advantage of the engine fan would be that even if the electric is pulling an equal or greater cfm through the radiator, the engine fan would be blowing directly on the engine itself very hard creating a air cooling effect.

I have a single puller from Stillen on my SR
I run 14lbs on the street and 9-10lbs on the track and never a problem (unless I forget to turn it on) I have it hooked to a toggle switch and I can turn it on and off when I want to.

as promised:
$84 bux for the fan. $16 for the thermo switch. $7 for aluminum sheet to make a shroud of..... 3000cfm of pullage, usually only comes on when i'm in traffic and works for like 5 minutes or less |
