RB25DET first startup video
Keep in mind that this video was taken as soon as the wiring was completed and the car is unpainted and the front mount intercooler hadn't arrived yet. I was starting it to make sure that I had gotten the wiring correct. Now the intercooler is here and in the car and the car is in the body shop getting worked on. I will post another video as soon as it gets out.
Here is the video

well, the KA drive shaft is too long with the rb tranny installed and it has the wrong yoke on it. Fortunately, you can get a competent driveshaft place to cut the yoke from the R33 driveshaft at the welds. Pull it out of the driveshaft, cut the ka yoke of and shorten the driveshaft and weld the r33 yoke in the KA driveshaft. Umm, as far as the wiring is concerned, I can not divulge the information(for legal reasons) on exactly what wires go where, but I can give you some information that you can use to derive how to do it yourself. Below I've got some links on some sites where you can find information. Once again, I deeply apologize for not being able to tell you exactly. I know how frustrating it is to not know for sure. Trust me, I had the basic idea on how to do it myself but I asked another company to verify what I was doing and they confirmed my theory. In return, I agreed to not tell anyone for business reasons. I truly apologize. Below are the links. Thanks guys for understanding my situation. If you don't understand, then I hope that you don't get mad. Link 1
Link 2 Link 3 Link 4 Link 5 and the most valuable These links will help you in conjunction with the KA FSM

I had some custom made. You should be able to get them made at a radiator repair shop.

i for one appreciate all of the info. I feel me and a friend are competent enough to do the swap. You have already helped alot! Most people are much more secretive. I plan on going about this swap pretty soon, when i find a good chassis. thanks again..
who is selling premade downpipes or is it a custom jobber? Do the clips come with the yolk? |

Thanks Steeles all I need is a kick in the butt
![]() One thing to note that I saw on Nights page is that the downpipes are not mandrel bent. Once we have ours done hey will be mandrel bent and out of stainless so they will last. A little more expensive but you get what you pay for. We are still trying to decide whether to integrate the turbo exit pipe with the downpipe to increase clearance and smooth exhaust flow. In any case we plan on offering lots of options for the rb swap! Heck we also have acquired rbswap.com! thsi summer things are really going to roll! -J Last edited by j240sxna; 03-24-2003 at 07:20 AM.. |

Quick question.
I have noticed that many (ok a few) people who have done this swap all seem to use a different crossmember or motor mounts, ect. With the various companies (You, Unstable, mckinney, night, after dark, etc) making some sort of swap kit, and no universal decision made one a standard how will you cope with these problems: 1. turbo extension to down pipe 2. motor placement do to different mounts used 3. Hood clearence for those who refuse or don't have the money to buy a new intake manifold. These are the bigger issue because, for example some people talk about shaving parts of the turbo extension while others (unstable i think ) use custom mounts and a downpipe to fit. I figure once you buy from a certain company, you mighthave to stick with them if you want it all to work. anyway I just want to pick your brain and any others who have ideas. Thanks. daimon |

If you get the unStable mounts, you'd need the matching downpipe. With our mounts, you don't have to cut the hood...the hood clears. Downpipes won't be interchangeable with different mount kits. How often do you need to change downpipes once you have the motor in the car? Just if you did a turbo upgrade. If you got the unStable mounts with the downpipe...and later wanted to do a turbo upgrade, the downpipe could be modified by us or anyone else to fit the new setup.
It is just like the intake manifold...once you get an aftermarket one, like ours or the Greddy one...you'll be limited to intercooler kits as well. Of course, that is still better than having the uglier manifold and less efficient piping setup, IMO. Dennis Kalman unStable Hybrids |

Dennis,
Thanks for the reply, I was actually wondering if the few shops in general were trying to come up with a universal standard. I agree completely with the whole changing the turbo idea. No say someone were to upgrade to a larger turbo such as a GT2540, they would have no problem because the output flange has remained in the same area. another question is: has everyone used a custom driveshaft or cut and wielded theirs with the correct output shaft. I take it different kits have different placement of the outpout shaft from the tranny. * use quicktime to view the video. www.apple.com |

aftermarket intake manifolds lend themselves well to give a big boost of upper end HP at the loss of some low/midrangepower.
Long runners = good torque short runners = hP this is a generalization, but most situations follow along this rule. Cams and aftermarket manifold = nice HP. |
