test pipe diameter

I have a greddy 80mm power extreme II exhaust, and i am going to buy a downpipe and a test pipe. The downpipes come in 80mm tubing for name brands, but there arent any 80mm test pipes, which are 3.15", they only come in 3". is there any way to get around having a bottleneck in the exhaust? also i was searching for 80mm test pipes, and the megan one came up as 80mm in one place and 3" in another, does anyone have info on this?

Is the 80mm exhaust pipe 80mm OD or ID? Chances are, it is OD, which would mean the ID is roughly 3".

I really don't understand test pipes. Seriously, i know it is inexpensive performance but I don't really see it as that much benefit to have to deal with smogging hassles and generally driving a car that stinks.

Personally, I believe that you are not going to see a bottleneck from this as I believe 80mm and 3" are used interchangeably in labeling parts (I know, they aren't actually the same unit of measurement, but I think it is like buying sealed beam headlights that are ' 7" ' in diameter; they are in actuality like 6.9 inches but called 7" because that is a standard.

Still don't see the point though.... Really, not hating, but I dont get it. I mean, on a dd. Track I get completly.

Its cheap, thats the point. I bought one not for performance but due to my cat being rubbed thru.
