Belt tightener romoval.

How do you romove the tensioner, the big one in the center of the engine so i can get the alt off. I know there is one big bolt in the middle and some little ones surrounding but i still cant get it off because it only loosens the first one. Kinda confusing. Any help would be apreciated.

i think there was one in middle, one on side (facing passenger side fender) and you can loosen the alternator (has its own bolt it can pivot on) too and push it down to add more slack. i forget, its been awhile since the last belt change.

ediT: i assume this is for KA?

yeah i just changed my belts this weekend. There is an alternator mounting bolt right below the alt. Loosen that some so that you can move the alternator down some to slacken the belt. Also loosen the tensioner bolt for the alt belt that is to the left of the alternator. Go to this site to get an idea on how to change the belts. Its for a pulley install, but it shows the steps for taking off the belts. Make sure to loosen the tensioner lock bolt before loosening the tensioner bolt.
