HKS wastegate actuator? (searched)
searched and didn't find diddly about the actual function of the HKS wastegate actuator... does it function like an adjustable manual boost controller, or is like a progressive actuator that keeps the wastegate closed more at low revs/boost?

It raises the actual pressure needed to open the wastegate, unlike a boost controller which just bleeds off pressure so that higher pressure looks like low pressure to the stock wastegate actuator.
It's nice in that it performs both the functions you described - it acts as a manual boost controller, allowing you to adjust maximum pressure, and it holds better below max boost to allow faster spool. Also, unlike a bleed-type boost controller, it won't cause boost spikes or things like that. It's limited in the range it allows you to adjust boost, but it's nice if you're not planning on huge amounts of pressure. |

thanks a ton. how much increase could i accurately/reliably make with it? i'm hoping to run ~12psi or so (stock turbo, injectors, walbro fuel pump and decent-size FMIC)...

Steeles (or anyone that knows),
How do you adjust the actuator? I just installed mine and it holds a steady 7psi but I want 14psi. I definately can't read the directions.

I adjusted mine a bunch...it holds .5, .6, .7, .8, .9 and 1.0 bar steadily. Didn't test it over 1.0 bar. I think it's a cheap great way to adjust your boost.

After doing some research nobody actually says how to adjust it. So I will:
1. Take the arm and screw down the sleeve about 3 turns and that will give you about 1-1.5 psi 2. Pull the arm to meet the wastegate 3. Adjust untill you get desired boost

I've boosted to 25psi and had no problems. The t2small is not big enough to break the SR. Try that with a t04e and stock fuel and you will break something

But nothing broke internally within the turbo itself?

If you screw it all the way to meet the wastegate w/o having to pull the arm it will be 7psi or .5 bar (stock) It will be pretty laggy due to it opening very easily. I didn't do a precise job of measuring just adjusted it, took it for a drive, let it cool, adjusted it again. The farther you have to pull the actuator arm to meet the wg the more boost you will make.
It is the most consistant boost you will get out of a t25 FYI- Be warned that if you leave it in a particular spot for an extended period of time the nut that holds the adjustment arm can freeze in place from the heat. I ran it at 7psi for about a week then wanted to adjust it to 14psi and it was difficult because of the fact that the nut melted slightly.

no the bolt is just to keep it tight and keep it's place in case the c clip comes off. the bar itself turns and in order to increase boost you adjust the bar so that it moves towards the actuator itself causing you to fight with it in order to put it on the flapper.
