The reason why is because anyone who has an RB20 upgrades to a RB25 tranny.
The RB25 tranny is beefy so no need to swap in a VG tranny

just get an RB25 tranny

True, but z32 tranny is more expensive and harder to find, thats y i want to do the z32 trany, plus if i break it i can get it rebuilt to take the abuse.

You want to use a Z32 transmission simply because it's "more expensive and harder to find"? Explain.

Im guessing he has access to an importer. He can get an RB25 tranny for cheaper than what it cost to get a Z32 tranny in the states? Iono, thats the only logical explanation in my head.

no, that doesnt make sence, that would lead me to just get the rb25 tranny, especially if its already an upgrade from a rb20...

i mean...ive neve done an rb into a z32, but im pretty damn sure like 240's ur gonna have to get a custom buil drive shaft, so there goes that as a money savor in the end...

To run a Z32 tranny on an RB, you need to swap bell housings. This applies to both the RB25 and RB26. I'm not too sure about the RB20 though.

How much power are you making with a RB20 that you think you need an upgrade?

Use a rb25 if you need.

like someone said Internals are same from z31 turbo , z32, rb25/26 (minus housing gears are same)

No need to upgrade really tho unless your Breaking the rb20 one already.

Also I think dood typed his thought backwards...

z32 tranny $250 ish.
rb25 tranny $1000 ish

Z31 turbo is best bet has the internal shifter. I HATE Z32 shifter linkage.

Z31 turbo uses a T5 transmission, completely different animal.

Not all Z31 Turbo tranny's are T5's

ZBUM's Z31 Transmission Information Page
The Z31 FS5R30A looks almost exactly like the RB25 FS5R30A.

there is so much confusion in this thread.

he meant the rb25 trans is expensive, and he wants to use a z32 trans. it was a typo saying z32 is more.

to op:

you need a rb26 or 25 bellhousing, put it on the z32 trans. then you will need a driveshaft made, depending on what car you are working with.
