So, I'm sure you've heard stories of idiots falling asleep at the wheel. But lucky all of you... I AM one of the idiots.

So, I'm coming home from Santa Monica about an hr ago and long story short I'm awake all the way home completely fine. Then I get about 2 exits from my house when I find myself being awaken by my car hitting a wood sign and me taking the exit to see the damage... screwed up radiator, can't open my hood and THIS 240 was supposed to be sold this week.

Looks like most of it is just body panel damage. Frame is fine, my fender lights were even good!

Ouch. Sucks to hear...I've run into the situation after coming home from a long track day where I'm SUPER tired and have dosed off for a second or so but nothing to serious.

At least your alright. Most "fall asleep" victims don't end up to well.

ouch, that really sucks, at least you weren't injured and with any luck the sell will still go through. I fell asleep myself a few times trying to one day it from Washington to California, luckily I stayed on the road but the rear lights on those 18 wheelers put me to sleep like no other... I remember staring at the lights thinking "hmm, it looks like a face" and when I opened my eyes the truck was gone and I was bouncing along to the rivets on the shoulder

Take one of these next time, all natural, taste like shit! but works. It's better than everything out there other than REDLINE but that shit sent me to the clinic after downing two lol.

Glad you're okay. I've fallen asleep at the wheel when I had my first car. Did 360 3x on the freeway after hitting the center divide and totalled the car. I had a jacked up back, neck and bruises. After that I just blast my radio and sing to keep me awake espeically on drives when I'm tired. Buddy system doesn't work to well if your buddy goes to sleep too. I speak from drives from San Francisco to San Diego.

hit an 18 wheeler back wheel and woke up to sparks flying and flat tire on freeway. not fun!

it is extremely scary when you realize its happening

you try to do EVERYTHING possible to keep you awake

I'm glad you're ok and no one was hurt. Sorry to see the damage on the 13.
I feel your pain, years back I fell asleep coming back from prom night, and totaled my gf's (now wife's) celica. We were all ok and no one was on the road, thank God. It sucks. No one trusts me anymore driving tired. haha. Always have a back-up when its late, a friend, food, drinks, ect. If your too tired ,even though your close to home, just pull over to knock out for a little. Better safe than sorry. Hope all goes well. Good Luck.

Back in college days it wasn't uncommon to make Friday Vegas runs
leave in the afternoon, hit the strip for a couple of hours and head back
~6hrs in either direction
had friends wake up on the side of the road or in ditches on a couple of occasions
now I know better, I've taken naps on the side of the road just to be safe

ive fell asleep once after weeks and weeks of partying everyday. i only fell asleep for a few seconds but when i woke i was in the back of an OCTA bus! nothing major happened.... glad to hear your ok..

good to hear your ok. I was falling asleep one time when i was driving home from college, Lubbock to Dallas Tx. I just pulled over and took a nap. Thats why i always keep a blanket in the car. lol

sorry to see that bro....I've fallen asleep behind the wheel many times...it is very scary...lucky i have never hit anything...i like to bumpt the radio and sing along to help keep me awake but sometimes even that doesn't work...and i have often found myself at a gas station getting a monster to help me out a bit...

i remember i was in a situation like that...i was SOOO tired and was doing everything i could to stay awake,i dozed off like twice, eyes barely opened...luckily i made it home, goodluck to you though

Sorry to hear about this. The damage doesn't look too serious, so you can probably just replace parts.

I've fallen asleep about a few times, but I wake up right away after hitting the lane reflectors. It is a scary thought after realizing you have. One method that I use to keep me awake is rolling the windows down. The cold air and noise keeps me awake. Heck I've even stuck my face out the window for better results.

i felt my self falling asleep one time it was after a long day, and than i took a 2hour drive out to the desert. had no radio, windows didnt go down, had just boughten the car, ended up chain smoking cigerettes out of the sunroof to keep myself awake.

i just bought a s13 for cheap with damaged front end.

i just have to replaced radiator support,bumper support, front bumper,passenger headlight, and front fenders.

I drive a truck from LA - Salt Lake City UT, alot of the truckers turn the a/c or cold air on, roll a window down and if you get super super tired, pull over and get out the vehicle for 10-15 minutes(get the blood pumpin), or just take a nap man, not worth your life or the others on the roads life... Energy drinks work, but not that good....
