Whats wrong with this motor?

At first, it would overheat after 20 mins of driving. I thought it wassomething wrong w/the thermostat as if it wasn't opening up at a certain temp. I replaced it, but noticed that the old thermostat was perfectly fine. After replacing it, it still would overheat. The technician that works at the repairshop that my car is being held at said that the waterpump gave out which caused it to overheat. I replaced the waterpump, and the radiator. But, at that point it was already too late. When it was overheating before the waterpump was replaced, the head seals couldn't handle the excessive heat and caused it to blow. It was hard to find it at first, then the technician pointed out the compression leak by the exhaust
manifold. So, when you drive the car it seems really boggy, as though it's not getting the right compression.


goddamn gasket. how much has been messed up by the overheating?

Your gaskets are probably fried and you have a major leak somewhere. It all matters on how much you drove it at the high temperature and also how hot it really got. You possiblly could have warped alot of you internals depending on the temps.

The problem was probably the radiator needing rodding out to begin with. Bad water pump.....ja..

The head is warped. The block surface should also need machining. I have not tried it on Nissans, but for a slightly warped head, I have used extra thick head gaskets on some motors and got some results but you are in for a tear down.

You could have also messed up the valve seats (warp) and even crystalized the rings (Total compression problem the valves won't fix)

You may have to buy new heads and the bottom end. Does not look good Pal...

She won't be right until you tear into her and do a complete diagnostics. I am afraid it is worse than just a warped head. Heat kills.

I hope you get lucky with just a valve job and a resurface of the head...but the pistons and cylinders have also seen the heat...and you may as well just tear it down.

meh. I'll toss a new headgasket on it and hope it runs for 2 more months.
