Pillowball mounts or replace stock mounts?

I really don't know much about pillowball mounts vs. stock mounts. All i know is that pillowball mounts replace the stock mounts with a solid aluminum unit rather than having a stock rubber(?) unit. I plan on getting a strut and spring combo and was wondering if you can get pillowball mounts to work with them. Is this possible? Or can i replace the normal stock mount with a firmer rubber one? I would rather have a hard rubber mount than a solid pillowball mount if this is possible due to the fact that I won't be taking it to the track very often. Where can you get this or do you just replace some bushings? Thanks.

upgrade pillowball mount such as tein or hks gives u more feel and allows camber adjustment. i say go for it since you can use em if you switch to coilovers. a good investment i think.

they accually lower your car about half an inch too, i have cusco camber plates with my springs, and even though i used the spacers so they wouldnt hit the upper perches, the car sits lower

pillowball mounts help tremendously under extreme driving conditions (as you already know), the OE mounts can flex, twist, even bend, hindering the performance of the shock absorber or strut which in turn may cause the vehicle to lose traction and steering response.

as knightrider stated some applications have adjustable camber plates built into the pillowball mounts to assist with fine-tuning of the suspension which answers you question for on/off road driving. if you are still interested in the replacement for the rubber mount go to autozone or pepboyz, they have a cheap insert for what you are asking however, it will not necessarily offer the same features (obviously) but will certainly be cheaper.
