Sr = stooopid! Boosts when It feels like It

My friend has a sr20det black top s13. Side mount,wb fuel pump. 3"inch exhaust and a boost controller. He wanted me to turn up the boost so I turned It up to 12. The guy doesn't know much about cars at all. or how to even drive a turbo car properly. couple days later he calls me and says it stopped boosting and It was smoking. So I go check It out. There Isn't any blow by or smoke coming from oil cap.

I compression checked the engine It had 145 all across. so I changed his turbo with another good doner. I disconnected his boost controller and we took It for a test run. It ran fine boosted 8psi. felt nice and healty. We stopped. and behind Is a huge cloud of smoke (the same thing It was doing with the other turbo). so we wait and It goes away. we boost check again, stop and boom more smoke.

What could this be??!?!?!? Compression on engine Is 145 all across. no blow by. no smoke at a idle or driving. the smoke only comes after hard boost. Could It be something wrong In the head? bad valves? valve stem seals? Maybe leaky head gasket?

Its white smoke. I've check the oil cap for milkshake and Its all good. The car doesn't overheat or run funny at all. It just smokes after boost and doesn't boost sometimes. the car holds a perfect idle at 900. motor doesn't shake or anything

I blew my HG and after random startups it would just billow but it still made good power, etc etc... HG doesn't necessarily mean that the power starts dropping off drastically right away.

If you changed the turbo there is only one other place in a car that has the capability to burn something and thats inside the engine. Blue or white smoke?

If you are losing oil or a lot of water and don't get milkiness then you are fine. You can even try leak down, but like I said if you don't have those two conditions, its fine.....

White smoke is water, not oil.... Might have blown a WATER seal on the turbo.... buying use shit will get you a WHOLE LOT of problems. Get a new turbo, but overall here is the condition that is 80% turbo is if you boost hard, when you BOOST, it runs fine, but when you let go of the gas, the smoke appears, its your turbo....

Naw Its all my friends car. He finally told me he was messing with the controller. I'm assuming he fuxed something up. The turbo I replaced on the car came from my old sr and It was running fine. I'm gonna leak down test It next. He doesn't know much of anything about cars which Is why I'm doin all his work.

I haven't heard anything from him so Idk whats the condition of It. If Its still smoking or not boosting

Thats what I said but with the compression at 145 all across It says different. Unless Its the oil ring. usually piston rings It would smoke constantly and the engine wouldn't run all smooth? I've blown out rings before and Its constant smoke. This car only smokes after It boosts, It smokes and then just stops.
