![]() I've built my sr20det more and more over the past few years and I always pick up parts from the auto shops sold for the USDM Se-R sr20de. Gaskets, fittings, bolts, plugs, what ever we know was exactly the same between the two motors. I have always want to have a full list of what parts I can pick up at a local dealer and which parts had to come from the shores of Japan.
I have two sr20det's in my shop and now I have a Se-R that has the usdm ( not a blue bird ) sr20de that some hack mechanic slapped a t25 and other turbo bolt-ons on to it. Between all of the oem parts and upgrade parts laying around I would really like to figure out what exactly I can swap between the two motors. Hope some one out there can help. Thanks Gallo SiP

YES! the usdm sr is a FWD motor hint's why it is in a Nissan Sentra SeR. I'm looking for info that can be provided. I know that my SR20det ( JDM ), and yes it's RWD, can have parts bought from local parts stores, I source them as early 90's SeR parts. So what I was looking for is a write up of what others have used to interchange between the two motors. I just am wanting to see what others have applied to their motors. Here's an example I bought Thrust Bearing for my SR20det (RWD) from an online source. But I also could have bought Thrust Bearings from my local Nisan Dealership for 10 dollars cheaper had I known whether or not the SeR Thrust bearings were the same... Get the Idea??? This Ideally is a thread for those to save some change by ordering USDM parts to fit their JDM motors and also for those with a USDM Sr motor to be able to buy parts from us JDM guys. Thanks Gallo

Gallo,
All I said is IDK what you can swap out and maybe you should try the sr20 forums. Don't get mad at me for trying to help you out, asshole.

I can't speak for fwd sr20de, but as far as rwd sr20de, almost everything will swap except for the oil pump I believe. Some things are small upgrades and some are not. I striped a sr20de that I used to have for spare parts (p/s pump, water pump, belts, etc)

I recently picked up an SR20DE (RWD: NA) for my S13, and I'm currently researching the differences, so this thread could be helpful. What I do know is: (all my info pertains to the RWD platform unless otherwise stated) - That they're pretty much the same as far as maintenance parts go; gaskets, seals etc. - DET valvetrain upgrades do fit DE motors. - I've heard conflicting stories that the DE and DET valve cover gaskets/grommets are different, I can neither confirm or deny this at the moment. The valve covers themselves are different slightly, You cant install the DET coilpack cover onto a DE cover. There's a lot more that I could list but I'm a bit lazy... |

you can swap the valve cover from de to det. I had to do it because when we notched my det valve cover for my ras we nicked it where the gasket goes, so to make sure it wouldn't leak, we just used the de valve cover. only difference, is the de is not drilled for the bolts that hold the coilpacks in, but you don't need them...you can always drill the de valve cover out and tap it so you can use the bolts for the coilpacks. as far as bolts/washers etc for the de valve cover, you can use whatever ones you want...you can even mix them up, its ok.

Ok good stuff.
Im personally took out a crankshaft form a fwd to use in my rwd. once i compare and contrast, they are exactly the same. piston are same width but cheaper material, rods are thinner on fwd. oem fwd rings, main bearings, rod bearings fit in rwd. and for the oil pumps i heard the internal parts are diffrent thats why i didnt use one. I heard it will cause oil stravation on a rwd because of less oil pressure. the cam rods lift a tiny bit higher on the fwd and they fit on rwd thats what im using.

I would figure the RWD DET oil pump would work on a RWD DE without any oil pressure problems considering the DET has the oil squirters for the pistons and the DE does not. My logic being that the DET oil pump has to move more oil/pressure on the DET and not so much on the DE. |

I'm unsure if the FWD pistons have reliefs cut out for the DET oil squirters. So while they will work just fine (granted FWD rods are weaker), you may not be able to use the pistons because of the squirters.

connecting rod bushings sr20 vs sr20det
Hi
Pretty straight forward question. I am rebuilding my JDM SR20DET (s14) from 1997 and my repair shop has told me to buy the connecting rod bushings. The part number for my engine is 12030-79E01 but I can't find it anywhere to buy it My question is, the bushings from the USDM SR20 are compatible? The part number is 12030-60J02 |

Me and a buddy recently bought a 240, was making a terrible chattering sound when you decelled. We thought maybe bent rods, but checked compression and held fine. Later we started it again and felt the clutch while revving and what not. Kinda felt like clutch... We ripped the tranny off and started to unbolt the clutch, it wobbled on the flywheel before I could even get the first bolt off. I grabbed the clutch and it pulled right off and the flywheel came with it. Turns out the guy who had previously owned it put grade 5 bolts through the flywheel and into the crank... He ended up ruining the crankshaft and I was wondering if I was to buy a sr20de crankshaft kit, for our sr20det, would it fit right in? Thanks for the info guys! And that would be a U.S. Sr20de crankshaft kit for our imported sr20det.
