Getting up to date with the S13, 'cause I got questions.

I have a few questions regarding the compatibility of parts between '89-'90 and '91-'94 S13's.

I have a '91 that has a leaking rack-and-pinion and a leaking brake master cylinder. I have a junker '89 that has those parts and they seem OK. Are these parts interchangable? I would like an answer for this.

Also, I notice that the KA tends to consume oil. The engine had a refresh build and has +5000 miles. It seems to me that KA's tend to consume oil, but I want to hear it from you guys. While on the subject, how can said consumption be reduced?

One more thing, if one were to restore a S13, how do you look for interior parts, including the smaller ones? What about hardware?

I hope I can get some answers.

So I'm going to go ahead and guess that you didn't try to search for any of this information

search...its your best friend, tool.

compatibility from the piggy year to the chuki year is everything. everything will bolt right up. there are some exceptions, but for the most part your golden.

To prevent oil consumption- New piston rings
New valve seals
Replace the 2 main seals
After you put rtv on the rebuild, let it sit there for at least 24hrs to cure.
Meaning don't add fluid untill a full 2 days later.

Yeah, y'all caught me! Didn't used the search. Thought I'd get answers more quickly this way. ^_^

Yay for interchange ^_^, nay for sealing u_u. I'm lucky that I got no leaks fron seals (previous and current owner took care of it), but the rings thing would be a hassle for the moment. Guess that cleaning the pistons and rings wasn't enough. Get what i paid for. Won't happen on my engine project. In the meantime...
