A dumb question?

Every once in a while I will pass a 240SX with it's lights off, but the light doors are not closed all of the way. I know this is not a malfunction, but something that is done on purpose. I would like to know how to go about making my headlight doors stay partially open like this. If anyone knows how this is done, please share the info. Thank you!

PLEASE! don't call them doors! =) It's called sleepy eyes. I'm guessing you have a S13, pop-up lights. You know that button you push on the left side of your steering wheel that makes the headlights come up? Well pull hard on this baby and it will pop off w/ a white plastic piece connected to the back of it. On the back of this white plastic piece are a bunch of wires. The VERY LIGHT green one is the headlight power. Go to your local radioshack and buy a toggle switch(on/off). Cut that green wire somewhere in the middle and splice the toggle switch onto it. Find a place for the switch(I put it in the open space below that headlight button.(this is just for looks however). Before adjusting the appearance, flip the toggle switch to off. Then push your headlight button; nothing should happen.(If they went back down, check your wiring and make sure it's the LIGHT green wire). Now quickly flick your toggle switch ON, then OFF; this will adjust how far down your lights go. Once you've found a nice-looking height, leave the switch at OFF and enjoy driving around w/ your new sleeping eyes which only cost $5(Toggle switch+crimps). As soon as you turn your lights on they will go up though, unless you disconnect your headlight motor. Basically it's just for daytime use, and should be, unless you have the in-house conversion for sleepy eyes(replaces your H4 headlight w/ seperate mini-headlights so you can leave your headlights halfway down). Hope this helps!

I just wanted to prove a point. No offense to you, you did great!

I just cant stress the fact enough that if someone is not good enough to find their own answers in a place thats full of such said answers, then the someone is probably not good enough to succeed at working on cars succesfully.

It takes time and patience to search. You will find what you're looking for 99% of the time.

Just like it takes time and patience to service and diagnose a vehicle. Screw up one thing and something will go wrong terribly wrong 99% of the time.

Self Education is Key... Absorb what you can, All that you can w/o having to ask for help right away and you will be x100 happier w/yourself.

Something I've learned in the past months. Sure Im no role model as I myself was a very n00bish dork with my posts but I think Im starting to follow my rules as stated above and am that much better...

I'll stop now

Hey Beat Junky, I'm sorry I upset you so much by asking a simple question. I just figured I would get an answere quicker by posting my question here than trying to find it somewhere else. I got a reply right after I posted, so I guess it was a good idea. If this means I will never be successful at working on cars I guess I had better close shop now and hang it up! Once again I would like to thank the guys that were kind enough to reply to my stupid question.

If everyone uses your method of posting new dumb threads just to make things easier two things will happen.

1) Everytime we log in we're gonna see nothing but an onslaught of new repeated topics all the god damn time instead of seeing new, interesting topics.

2) Everyone will end up angry and tired of answering the same questions that have ALREADY BEEN ANSWERED just cuz some lazy tard felt he didnt need to search like 99% of the members here do.

Quit being a lazy fuck and stop crying. Search first, what's wrong? You need to be told and cant figure things out?

I may have been a tad bit harsh saying I woulda flamed you but hey, did I?

Search you lozer!

Yes, you asked a stupid question. You also didn't search the answer for your stupid question. Then you got mad at me for suggesting you search. To top it off you confused my comment about searching and having patience as an insult to your mechanical skills.

Know what that tells me? That you are more stupid than the inital question you had asked.

-Omar

...why do I waste my time w/people like you... ...this will never change, n00bs will be n00bs. At least I can try to have more searchers and less noobie mofo's adapt for the better of the forums, but we will never succeed. It's hopeless...

holy crap guys, its ok. I used to do what he did at the same time, it eventually just grows out of you. We dont have to scare the crap out of everyone who does it. Jst simply reply with "Use the Search" key or something. Or for something like this. Just say: "Search: sleepy eyes", at least you're pointing them in the right direction.

I may be a noob here, but to me it seems like you wasted more time flaming the guy than SiNFuL did by just answering the guy and going on about his buisness. I just don't understand why you felt the need to rant on this guy needlessly when his question was answered, we all would've seen the post, spent a minute reading it and gone about our buisness. But I guess some people have nothing better to do on here than rant, jump on every repeated question that comes through here and make themselves look like a total ass in the process.
Congrats, you've achieved your goal!

Flame On Oh Great One!

Would you ppl read. I said I WOULD HAVE flamed.

His answer was given, then I made a statement. Then I was accused and flamed back. Now I have to defend my point and people are still blaming for what!?

Just let this thread die. Im done with it. Geez, you noobs dont get it? We need less pointless posts and you just keep adding.

Please stop posting crap. We're done.

Peace!

I am sorry that I even posted my question in the first place. This guy Omar must really have some issues. I have never seen anyone get so upset over something so little. Everyone else that I have come in contact with on this site was really cool. It is a shame that some people are that unhappy with their lives that they think they have to make everyone else miserable. I almost feel sorry for the guy. I believe the next time I have a question I will try to find a solution somewhere else, so I don't cause any more problems. Once again, I would like to thank the guys who helped me out with my sleepy eyes. It's guys like you that make up for assholes like Omar!

Wow... He finally gets my point but too far to an extreme. Why go somewhere else. The answers are most likely here, but like you said. Look for them.

I dont even think I was being out of line in the first place. And then to call me an asswhole and a low life, thats just making you worse than I. Some people from these boards have met me and can say that Im a pretty nice guy. What you need to do and the others that decided to bash me for saying that you should search is relax and get your panties out of a bunch.
