another lost s13...
hey all hows it going... about 4:00AM here in the bay are.. just got home from the gas station... but i wasnt pumping gas... actually just got done towing my car off an island and off against a wall...
wasnt street racing, wasnt trying to drift, just making a usual left turn off a stoplight (rolling.. the light was already green)... the roads were wet... back end broke loose for no appearant reason, counter steered, next thing you know, my car was airborn sideways 3ft off the ground (friend was following me)...no serious damage to me thank God... but the car on the other hand, the left tire looked like it had a -40 offset.. the shock tower was ripped right out of the strut casing...im lucky to be untouched, and lucky there were no other cars around...i will post some pics first comes morning... i got before and after pics of the tree i took down.. ill post those up too...ill keep you all updated...looks like my SR is still intact...hhopefully... please drive carefully in the rain...it wasnt even raining when this happened... the roads were wet like crazy though... aaahh... sorry just mad and need to vent.... -ryan...

Your lucky to be un hurt. A quick tip about rain guys..
The reason im almost sure it was super slippery was because of the newly released oil that the rain let loose on the roads. When it rains oils are released from the ground and make it very hard to gain traction. GL, atleast your in socal, 240s are everywhere |

good that you're ok, that's more important then the car.
similar thing happened to me with my 90. i was turning off campus in the rain into where they were doing road work and someone in a truck ran the red. i steered to dodge him and 540º later a back wheel hits a hole in the dirt and launch the car into the air for another ~270º and land in the median. only damage was a bent wheel and fucked up alignment, also landing stuck a hubcap about 4inches into the ground. sat there for about 15min trying to get my heart to slow down. |

It's good to see that you weren't hurt at all or that, it sucks that your car was damaged though. It looked like a sweet ride in the first picture....it's really cool to see that you are already thinking of getting another one and transfering the motor

Good Luck
Yeah glad you are ok. And good to hear you want to get back into a 240. Hey also same question are those M-class sidemarkers or are those from Clearcorners.com?

Sorry for your lost, my s14 scared the crap out of me yesterday in the rain. Everytime I make a turn the rear end would step out a little bit no matter how hard I tried with the gas. Good luck finding another S13, and I'm from San Jose too.

Sucks to hear about your loss man. Hope you recover w/ a better car soon.
MY rear end broke out last week too. but this was due to bald tires, i too am glad that there was no one around too.

did a science project on this once in high school. A little rain releases the oil and grime and it sits on top of the pavement, as opposed to after it actallly starts raining and rinses it away my friend wrecked a Celice GTS like that, had it only 3 weeks sucks about the car!

It's interesting (and shitty) driving without VLSD. . oddly enough, my S13 has stock VLSD. . while my s14 doesn't haha
I notice it's a bit harder to slide around in the rain without it. . All I usually wind up with, unless I'm trying to do it, is the inside tire spinning. Oh well. . I'll get a VLSD later on (sold the last one I bought lol)

far better than wasting your power away through the back inside wheel. I find at the limit of handling on dry pavement, like say I feed it full throttle in the higher revs in second gear in a corner, that it will react more like a front wheel drive with understeer occuring first and mild oversteer if I really really get nasty with it.

If you dont know I won't tell you.
![]() We are more than likely looking forward from behind the drivers side LCA. the bent part is the outer tie rod end with ball joint. The bar with the two round "spots" on it, just forward of the bend, is the tension rod.
