'98 240SX SE stolen...

My 240SX SE was stolen early Friday morning in a suburb of Toronto, Ontario. Parked in my driveway Thursday night after work around 6:30, last saw it there at 11 pm while I walked the dog. Woke up around 5:30 am to my girlfriend telling me my car wasn't there anymore. Called the police and insurance company.

Car is a 1998 Nissan 240SX SE, purple (deep fuschia). No mods, all stock. Owned the car since 2005. It was my 3rd 240.

Before shots:

Police called around 10:30 Friday to tell me they found my car in an abandoned industrial complex. Went to the impound lot and to check out my car. Car was towed with its rear wheels on the ground from police HQ to the lot (don't know the exact distance). Tow driver said that's how the police hooked up the car to the truck.

For those people who own Koukis, be extra careful. These guys obviously wanted the kouki parts and probably watched and waited for the right time to take my car. Since Nissan doesn't make the 240SX anymore, parts are expensive. If you haven't already, get an alarm system, fuel or engine cut off, club, etc. It won't eliminate theft but at least they'll think twice about stealing your car.

In my opinion, it's a write off. Cost to fix it will most likely exceed the blue book value of the car.

So pissed right now.

God damn, i'm very sorry man. At least you got the car back, some owners never get to see theirs again. Good luck getting it back to it's previous condition.

I know 14-16 year old kids that put honda fits on bricks just for the wheels and like $200. Another guy that is 20 now told me when he was 15 he went under an s14 in his own neighborhood, stole the tranny that he needed for his s14 in 10-15 mins and peeled off. $1000 would be totally worth it to them, although I think stealing a car is a bit above them, but who knows.

Will insurance be covering this?

Look on the bright side, insurance should pay you out more than what you would have got for all the parts removed from your car. Perhaps it's an opportunity?

Damn, I'm sorry for your loss man, but people are right, it's certainly not the end.

If it would make you feel better, think of it as a chance to freshen up the car, you could buy some D-Max head/taillights for a more modern LED look and OEM fenders, hoods, and bumpers/skirts aren't really all that much used.

I have full coverage. Don't even know if I even want the car anymore. Every time I drive it, it'll leave a bad taste in my mouth. This all depends on whether or not it's deemed a write off.

In 2009, my '89 Skyline GT-R was rear ended by an armored truck. I was just sitting at a red light when it just plowed into me. It was totaled. Now this.

If I ever caught the dudes who did this....

you should be on the lookout for kouki front end + taillights for sale... if your kouki was all original, isnt the vin # stamped on the panels? you should go "shopping" for new parts

Wow what losers...stealing a car just for the kouki parts...You got to look at it one way though you got it back. Some people don't. And mostly cosmetic parts to be replaced, as long as you care about your car I think you should keep it if you can. That's my opinion.

Looks like they popped the door handle, brought their own ignition switch and broke the steering lock. Hope with all that dusting the cops got usable prints. All this theft has made me uber paranoid

if you have filed a claim to your insurance company yet maybe you can consider just replacing the parts yourself?

not sure if $1500 worth of repairs (parts + paint) is worth giving your 98 s14 a salvage title. even if you plan to get rid of it, it would probably knock off a few thousand in resale value.

From the looks of it, its another S14 owner who jacked you. Those parts are pretty fucking specific for a swap. Time to keep an eye out for a zenki around your area that suddenly has a new kouki front end on it. Trust me, it would be local around you.

Exactly!

I guess the only positive I can see out of this, is that it shouldn't be enough to total the car....and you'll be able to get the car fixed just as it should be. If you don't want it still, it will be MUCH easier to sell that way.

Crooks suck.

Driving a rental car now and let the insurance company know that the 240 is currently at the body shop.

How long does it take for the adjuster to look over the car? Haven't heard a thing from insurance since Tuesday. Should I give them a week, then call them to get an update?

I'd keep an eye out on craigslist too...you might get lucky and that you have dumb thieves trying to slang it in there. Purple aint exactly a common color for an S14.

I wouldn't get rid of the car. Take the money, buy something else to drive, and turn this into a track/drift car.
