SR36 Build!!!!! (sr20det into bmw e36)
hey everyone! a awhile ago i told all of you i was planning on swapping sr20det in a my e36. Im sorry it took so long, money is always a issue when building stuff! Well im happy to tell you im am starting the swap! As you all know swapping engines from other makes is fairly difficult and i will be posting pictures up through out the process of the build. I hope you enjoy following me though this interesting and fun build. Let fun the begin!
Of course when swapping the engine out of the car you have to remove the original engine and trans which is shown below. ( i removed the trans before i removed the engine to make things easier). I received the engine and trans yesterday!!! all nice and clean got a great deal on it its a s13 black top with only 38000 miles on it! hmmm now the really interesting part... making this thing fit? o_O ha thats what she said... anywho stay tuned and the build will continue, i have a truck load of parts coming in and im currently working on the engine mounts tranny mounts and what im going to do about the prop shaft |

Update
even though im getting crap for this build im still going to update ok so i just finished, building the engine/tranny mounts and just got done painting them. here is a picture of them.
and now for the test fit of the motor!!! it actually fits fairly well like its suppose to be in there so everything is running smooth exempt a few minor problems. so the engine is in now , but i have to modify the engine mounts because it sits about a half an inch to high in the bay and on the driver side mount is rubbing against the steering rack. |

Its funny how in less than two months people on this forum have associated floridians with being idiots.. You live where you live, you do what you do, haters gonna hate, etc. The stereotype of california is that everyone drives a prius, but the majority of people who drive "illegal" "gross polluting" sr-swapped cars on this forum live here. I bet if broadfield were to put a sr in a bmw no one would mind...

i had to use the amount of couplers so i can place the piping where it needs to be mounted, and for the missing coupler all im doing is putting a 90 degree coupler to finish it off.

If you re-do the downpipe, I would recommend finding someone with a Mandrel bending machine to avoid the crushed restriction. Also , It is a drift car dont be afraid to beat the firewall with a big fuckin hammer to make it fit. Other than that the build looks good.

I don't understand why you want an SR in a BMW? Dont these cars come with a V6 or something already? Why put a 2.0t in it? I mean do what you want I just don't see the sense in it.
