Hello all, this is my first post on this fourm so bear with me <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

The option of moving to the USA has been mentioned to me and I am thinking of selling my car (r32 skyline gts-t) and buying a s13 or s14. I have notced that RB engine swaps are getting popular with some selling for upwards of $3000!

Do you think I would I be able to sell my engine or car to someone in the US for racing and be able to buy a s13 or s14. I am looking to spend around $6-8000. What prices do clean examples go for nowadays? Does anyone know of someone who wants to do a RBengine swap?

I dont really want to sell the skyline but if I move to the US I want to have a car while I am going to school, and I dont want to drive a boring domestic or FWD compact.

Nothing against them, (they all have their own +'s and -"s) its just after driving the skyline I am hooked on RWD handling. I was hoping that a s13 would give most of the same driving pleasure/thrills.

What do you guys and gals think? Am I fooling myself or wasting money?

well, i had an r32 gts-t in japan n there is way 2 much crap to go through to bring a car over here to keep or sell. engines r a different story of course though. then again though, i've heard that it takes about 6k n u have to own the car for a year for it to even be a possibility or bringing it over here, the car that is, no the rb20det. keep in mind that u have to not only go through state laws, but federal laws n it can be hard a lot of the times n u may have to find a loop hole somewhere. also, safety n crash standars are a lot stricter here n that's a big issue. just found some more 'bout this stuff from a friend and another person that just came back to the states from japan. if i go back though i'd love to bring back a car w/ me if i can bring it to a certain state. cars r a lot cheaper over there, but if u try to bring it over here it might just be worth it.

Oh you owned a GTS-t as whell Blankflip, then you know what a pleasure they are to drive!

if you do manage to bring it back it'll be worth it in the end if you ever try to sell it, because an r32 GTR goes for about $35-45k from motorex, a GTS-T can bring in a hefty sum.

as far as the engine, i see 32 gts-t front cuts going for $2000-3500 here in the states

They're</a> THE only ways that the people in the US can get Skylines. The prices may be nuts, but a lot of the money goes into development to getting them legal enough to drive in the states with emissions, safety, and everything.

Is it possible to drive a RHD car in the US?  At first, I just thought it was completely impossible since the cars there are RHD, but I am think it must be because Motorex brings them in.

its perfectly legal, as long as the car goes through the importation process. also, if there is a substantially similar US version, then the car should be legal for importation. importing a silvia to the US wouldnt be very hard, after you pay all the taxes and various charges. also, if you just want RHD and not the car itself, you can swap in the dash from the RHD version and what not, this is also perfectly legal. I have never driven an RHD car in the US, but i imagine it would be somewhat of a pain. I think it'd be worth it for a car you couldnt buy in the US though

I've been told that to convert my car it would not be worth it. Would be $4,000+ to take back to the states.

well, usually w/ the 6k + that converts it to lhd n should cover all the fees. it's usually more for different cars/situations. really just a big hassle.

god ####, $4k? f' that. maybe just pick up an engine while you're there and sell the car, then pick up where you left off when you get back
