New to the 240sx, Reviving an S13, Drivetrain Help
Hey guys I'm new to the 240sx community finally bought my first 240sx, an 89 S13. I was going to do an LSX swap
(Ive built a couple boosted honda's, did some bolt ons on my old 350z, and also turbocharged a jeep 4.0 wrangler before so its not my first rodeo lol) but found out the car was a rebuilt title and Dont want to put that kinda money into a car with a bad title so I'm looking to get it running to sell it. I need a manual transmission crossmember and a manual driveshaft. I needed help figuring out what is interchangable? Are any of the S14 parts work on the S13? I saw that the Auto crossmember wont work so I got that down. What about an auto driveshaft? is there a difference? Thanks guys |

Nopes, you're just gonna have to measure them. I dont have the specs off the top of my head, but google should come up with something. ABS shafts will be shorter.

I've got a crossmember for you. I'll also check to see if I have a driveshaft laying around at the shop. IMO, it does not matter if the car is salvage titled or not as long as it has been fixed properly. I have around $14k in my car (s13) and the bank will value it around $2300... I paid $700 for the car and drove 500 miles round trip to pick it up. Most of my money is in the engine and a few suspension parts. If I were to wreck it I would pull my parts and move on to another chassis. Which is exactly what I did to begin with. I bought a $7000 coupe, drove it four days, hit a deer on the interstate and totalled it. I didn't even ask what insurance would offer. This is all just my opinion though, it's not like going out and buying a new Chevy for sure. If you wreck it, the chassis is a loss and your out X amount of dollars. But they are also a dime a dozen. 4.0 Jeep is very cool, btw..

Yeah, I wouldn't worry much about an R-title either. As long as you can't find anything wrong with the chassis. Maybe get underneath it and try to find frame damage or signs of major work being done. Does it still have original paint? If it checks out, the title issue is a non-issue.

Shit, my S14, its only worth $3300 from USAA and thats with a clean title. My fucking wheels cost more than my whole car (Work Equips and Dunlop Star Specs all around).
